well every since i inherited my grandfathers mariner ive been planning my install. so far ive only installed my subwoofer and amp. Ive got an American Bass PH4000MD and a SSA Xcon 18" D1. the box has 6.7 cubic feet plus another 1.9 cubic feet for port, it was tuned to 34hz i believe when i designed it. I used a simple LOC to run my amps RCA inputs. worked pretty well but as soon as i get my income tax im getting a Pioneer double din and 4 channel 100watt rms @ 4 ohm amp. then replacing all the door speakers and installing components up from with a nice mid range drive in the back doors. right now with the stock mids / highs i cant hear anything over this xcon. shes a beast gains not even half way and it slaps. anyway heres photos, im open to suggestions!!

Slick ride. The only thing I'd suggest is that you get some black carpet and cover that box.

Was thinking the same thing, box ruins the whole clean look.

Yeah, otherwise it's a real nice ride. I'd get a limo tint done too. But that's just me.

What factory system adapter did you get? Mariners have that massive plastic all in one thing right?

im going to use the PAC RP4-FD11 i ordered the wrong one sadly i wont be able to keep the factory usb/aux input on the dash. they wont work unless you buy the PAC MS-FRD1. but i keep steering wheel controls and my HU has aux/ usb of course! i just hope the factory usb port will still charge my phone. as for the dashkit there several pieces but only one hold the radio. ill have some pics up as soon as i get everything shipped here.

Build loks like it will be nice good work

yea as soon as i finish up the front stage ill work on making the box pretty. i wanna put 8 gauge wiring in for the speaker wire.

Lots of stuff came in today, TWS tweeters HU and faceplate along with PAC harness. 100ft of speaker wire, 0 gauge wire. So I got to work wiring up the harness. That's always the funniest part.... Not I did however add my iPod av cable on the Hu so I can use YouTube videos and what not through any iPhone or iPad.

That's all for today, I'm not installing until next weekend still waiting for 6.5" adaptors to come in and the last two midrange speakers.

Had some free time so I threw the HU in ran my RCAs and new amp turn on. I love this HU lots of features, the graphic EQ is my favorite though.
Stock radio out

Attached AC unit controls

And bam fit like a charm

Got my speaker adapters in today. I have to say car-speaker-adapters.com was great to work with. Shipping was super fast for usps. They upgraded me to first class for free and they offer 50% off if you send them 10 photos of the install process!! My last two midrange drivers come in on wednesday so ill install hopefully thursday or friday

Got everything installed flawlessly, played around with my gains and set everything to what I believe is the perfect combo, my mids and highs play over my sub at full tilt so I can bump and hear the actually lyrics as well!! Overall the install was a pain in the *** my panels wouldnt go back into place with the 0 gauge wiring so I had to stuff it under the carpet. Then the doors speaker cutout was to small for a my 6.5s and I had to dremel out a larger hole. Only thing ford made easy was giving me another opening in the firewall to run my 0 gauge through. Anyway got everything done, and I see no dimming at all so I'm happy and I've impressed a lot of people With the clean look. Next up get this box carpeted!!

The best part about this HU is I ran my iPod cable into the glove box and threw my old *** iPod nano in there, it stays charged and out of site, I can control everything from the HU and search through playlists. Really loving the graphic EQ but I need to fine tune the system and play with the staging. But for now I'm happy! I'll get a good video of the flex soon!!

So a little side conversation, I have 2 12" Zcons in a Camaro, I was thinking of taking the 18 out of my mariner and buliding a box using the design SSA gave me for the 12s and putting it in the mariner. Anyone think it'll actually be any louder? I'd keep running the same amo and all for now until I choose to upgrade.
