Hello. I normally google search everything I can to get answers but I cant seem to find the answer for my question which made me make an account here to figure it out. My setup is currently as follows...

2 sundown sa-10s on sundown saz1500d v.3
Massive audio ck6 components on massive audio nx2 (2channel amp)
Sony xavbt head unit

everything sounds great Except the mids. I have my 2 channel on hi pass but the amount of sound coming out of the mids is just terrible. My tweeters sound great but over power the mids too much. I realize when I set my amp to full range it sounds just the way I like em but I dont want to burn my speakers up. So I feel handicapped at the mids right now. What am I missing to get the full potential out of these mids. It drives me nuts. The research ive came up with says run full range only if u have passive crossovers and the comps did come w. Crossovers so some ppl say it will be fine, but the other side says no u need more crossovers??? One evn told me I just need a bigger amp.(which makes no sense cause the sound just fine on full range)

So if anyone could explain to me what it is im missing it would be much appreciated.

Do you have a high pass filter on your head unit turned on? If your head unit has a HPF setting turn that off and use the knob on the NX2, or else set the amp to full range and use the HPF setting on the head unit. You need a high pass filter on your speakers so they don't try to play frequencies meant for a subwoofer. This is important whether you use the passive crossovers or run the speakers active.

I will give that a try. I forget which one it is but I cant turn either my hpf or lpf off. What brand passive hpf does anyone recommend. I really dont have time to build one.

Use the passives that came with the speakers.

The speak detailst hat came with it only say

SKU SKUVK6 Weight 6.50 Pounds
Speaker Size 6.5"
Tweeter 20mm Silk Dome Tweeter Cone Poly Mica
Sensitivity 88dB (SPL@1w)
Frequency 60Hz - 20Khz
RMS Power 5-60 watts
Peak Power 250 watts
Impedance 4 Ohm
Crossover 12 dB External
Basket Heavy Gauge Steel

So the crossovers that came with it would be okay to run full range on?

Passive crossovers don't have a high pass filter to cut out the bass from the woofers. This is why I said you need a high pass filter even with passive crossovers. They only protect the tweeters. It's up to you if you want to run the set full range but be aware that bass notes will likely cause the woofer to bottom out.

Sorry for the noobish questions. Learning as I go. But from what im understanding my mids will be safe though with my hpf from the deck is ON and full range set on my amp, correct?

Yes, that's correct.
