There won't be much for a list till early next year. There always a few shows here every year for sure like ifo cone twice a year. I'm sure there will be more though.

There will be a few MECA and IASCA shows for SQ and SPL hopefully at Aho Audio in Guthrie. I am planning on hosting the MECA Oklahoma State Finals there if possible. I know there will also be quite a few MECA shows in Tulsa too. Mark Eldridge will be putting those shows together most likely.

Many of the guys who did MECA and MW SPL last year are running USACi this year as they said they were not found of the metering methods of MECA or MW SPL. I'm sure some will still show just less in the lanes is all. I don't think AHO is doing much if anything with USACi this year, at least not to my knowledge anyway. I'm still trying to decide how involved with shows I will be this year.

There are some DB Drag shows in Tulsa every now and then. Not much for participation though.

The few orgs that get people to show up are MW SPL and USACi, but that is pretty typical for the midwest though.

im down for Oklahoma as I live in Fort Worth.

Since you are in Fort Worth, Jeremy Clutts of Clutts Customs in Denison does most of the MECA shows in the region. Most are in Denison and Sherman with at least one in Durant, OK. There is one April 27th in Plano. He also does the sq judging for Eldridge's meca show here in tulsa. There was planned to have a show a month this season, and hopefully, as OnYrMrk mentioned, we'll get a few up here in OK as well.

Not a contest, but a group of around 10 or so people hang out pretty much every Friday night. Usually grab some food, then sit around and BS for a couple of hours. Now that the weather is getting nicer we are also starting to get together on Sundays where we actually get around to doing something constructive. If any of you guys are interested PM me and I'll get you more info. Pocket5s and OnYrMrk are both part of our group. You are guaranteed to learn something or your money back;)

When were you there last? I was walking around the last IFO but was not notified of needing to speak with anyone. Sorry if you were there, I didn't hang out at the table all day as IFO almost never has any SQ guys show up so I kind of do my own thing. I'm not sure who will even be judging this show yet for SPL...

I understand that. I know Ralph doesn't send out much for SQ judges to IFO shows normally since the turn out is low for SQ. I just happen to live here and typically am there most of the time.

Side note, I'm going to see if Tony want's to bring out his FJ for it. I don't know if it will be full powered, but should be able to at least demo it some.

By 'metering' do you mean mic location - or how MWSPL actually measures power output (versus a ridiculous 4-ohm manufacturer rating?)
:p:

First week of May - there's a 3-show weekend in northern Oklahoma:
May 3rd - Performance Audio in Enid
May 4th - Rock N Rumble in Altus
May 5th - Aho Audio in Guthrie

Many of the guys who did MECA and MW SPL last year are running USACi this year as they said they were not found of the metering methods of MECA or MW SPL. I was refering to mic location. Most everyone likes the clamp idea. Again though, this is just what I was told by various people...not my views... I don't care what org anyone competes in...as long as you are having fun doing it.

Looking forward to this one. I would think Tulsa would have more events. I try and get things pretty reasonable off Craigslist and the amount of car audio for sale in Tulsa is crazy for being a relatively small city. People love it! A lot of shops have opened up too (although most are worthless).

I wonder why? That would seem like a good way to get people into the shop. And the cost of putting one on can't be that significant.

They backed out of several shows including a charity show that I backed away from to allow them to sponsor. I'm sure they have their reasons and thoughts behind it though.

With that said, I am making a new thread shortly to promote the charity show in Tulsa this month.

When is the charity show and when is IFO?

I am new to the scene and prolly not ready by charity show but I will be ready in about a month.

I am also wondering if there is a team or group in Tulsa that a 29 year old like me wouldn't be being asked to beer for a bunch of teens. I am fine with there being young guys there but I am looking for a group of older guys to learn from and hopefully join at comps when I am ready. And the help and advice in person would be great.

Thanks for all the help and can you maybe start a thread or post the next couple shows coming up 100 miles or less from Tulsa area?

Cool. Lots of friendly people and always nice meeting new peeps.
You may do better than you think man (only way to know is to get on a meter) - the class structure is pretty new-person-friendly in the Local classes, but give the class matrix and rules a quick glance over to help things go a bit smoother at the show:

Midwestspl Classes (http://midwestspl.ipower.com/Competitorshoopla/classes.htm)

Come on through. Typically a fun show all around.

Awesome guy we might actually setup my boys fifteen in there too and see for SPL, but my goals are geared toward sq so I am going to run both types of comp if I can

only one fee to compete in multiple right?

What's the entrance fee?

n8skow
06-27-2013, 01:13 AM
In MWSPL:
$25 per class for non-members
$20 per class for members

Rabbit will have to chime in on what USACi fees are

pro-rabbit
06-27-2013, 01:55 AM
Usaci fees vary with the points that particular event is listed as. I would have to ask about the show on Sunday, as I'm not 100% sure since I didn't set up that show this year. As for the classes. With any org you pay for each class you would like to run in. In most orgs (depending on the class and setup of the org) you will get two spl runs to attempt and achieve your best score. For SQ it varies with each org but most will do some type of "in car listening" style testing and a spl run in most cases. Again it will depend on the org and class you decide to compete in.

I will be at the show on the 30th and I'm normally not to far from the USACi area, but I may also be in the main building hanging around the white FJ with a wall. So just be sure to introduce yourself to me if you get the chance before you pay to run in a class and I will help make sure you get into the right class.

The minivan's transmission took a ****. It's in the shop as we speak. I think we're going to drive it for a few months after we get it out and trade it in. Whatever we get after that is what I'm going to the build on. A serious build this time! Going to spend some coin. Thinking a 2011 or newer Taurus or maybe a Fusion. I don't know yet. I do know this is going to be a 150+ car. Should be fun...
