View Full Version : Design for two 8's in a vented enclosure - 1998-2007 silverado extended cab

So, I was playing with Google Sketchup today, and came up with a vented box that fits under the seat of my 2003 silverado extended cab. Raked the subs in to protect them from wandering feet and to experiment with reflecting sound waves off of each other (any input?). Ports in the center over the floor hump. I just threw them in there, so they're not to size yet. Forward firing everything. I'm just waiting for my dad to get back from Phoenix with his laptop. I have a copy of Autodesk Inventor on it that I'll use to remake the box in. That way I can get perfect volume calculations and what-not. (macs suk for that reason)

Oh and if anyone has a good serial code for Bassbox 6 pro, I'd love you longtime.

If anyone wants me to do a design for them, I'd be perfectly happy to.

Do the ports to the sides if you have room

Do the ports to the sides if you have room

Is there a benefit? What effect does it have on gain and sound quality?

fire your ports toward the sides firing off the side/wall. ive noticed gains in every box doing that in my truck.

Do I have to figure in some of the wall area as port area when tuning?

I do a FAR less complex design. Its 2 separate boxes, subs and ports firing toward the sides, one box on each side of the transmission hump.
Also, by doing 2 boxes you leave the transmission hump open to mount an amp under the seat.

And this setup SLAMS. I tweak the boxs to work with whatever sub I'm using. Usually do Sundown SA8's, DD508's, or DD1508's. I just change the port area and tuning for each sub. The boxes range from 0.5-.7cuft net depending on the exact build.

Moble Enclosurs ; Hes design two seperate underseat boxes for me. SA v1.5s and now V2s, the box for 1.5s sounds amazing and the v2s im sure will be just as impressive.

Well, I downloaded Autodesk on my Macbook, and am currently running it through Parallels. I remade the box and found out i have 2.53ish ft^3 of internal volume. Using that, I modeled the ports, and tuned the box to a hair under 32 hz.

Consruction is all 3/4" MDF except for the port walls which are 1/2"

Haha, I know, I know. But I couldn't get the length and proper port size needed running them along the back of the box and out the side.

You should be able too with 4" aero ports. Or decrease your port area slightly

I won't get port noise from the ridiculous excursion from the SA-8's?

I've been considering a design similar to this but I don't want the speakers firing forward due to my kids.

How about firing the speakers up or backwards? This guy (see link below) built a box with (1) 8" sub that fires at the back wall of the cab. I don't doubt the box works maybe it helps by utilizing the cab corner????

Whats A Good Sub Enclosure Setup For Extended Cab Silverado's..? - Radio/Electronics/Security - SilveradoSS.com (http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/49163-whats-a-good-sub-enclosure-setup-for-extended-cab-silverados/)

Probox builds a single 10" upfire design that they claim works amazing!

I was thinking about putting (2) SA8's on the driver side side (either facing up or possibly backwards) and firing the port to the passenger side door. I've never seen one but I bet it would pound!!!!

Thoughts? Good discussion.
