Okay, this is pretty much my first time building a speaker enclosure, let alone with fibreglass. I'll keep this thread updated as much as I can with progress pics. I have a '79 corvette, and the trunk area is extremely small. (35"x12"x14") of workable space. I opted to put one 10" sub along with 6.5" mids in the back. My budget isn't huge, so I went for a clarion 10" XW for now. The cabin in these vettes are extremely small, so I think this will be all I'll need.

Major of the box is MDF, and the front is going to be fibreglass to give it some curves. Then all painted gloss black, to match my car's exterior.

Left to do:
-install terminal for the sub.
-using dowling, position and set the MDF rings
-fleece the front of it, then fibreglass
-bondo, sand, bondo, sand, prime, paint.

Looks good thus far, but i'm not sure if your gonna get good sound mounting the components next to the sub like that. The low end may drown out the mids and highs.

Either way, good start.

I also have 180w 6x4 speakers in the dash with tweeters. The dash speakers are pretty much the exact same distance away from the driver/passenger as the rear speakers are. I don't think it will be too bad. Good enough for what I need, I don't need competition quality imaging.

Looks great, but why so much air space for the midbass? That Clarion sub is pretty potent for the price, good choice.

Keep the pics coming, looks pretty good so far. Where did you pick up the MDF rings, or did you cut them yourself? Nice job so far!

I figured it'd be better to have too much than too little. Afterwards I'll figure out the exact space and just put blox of wood in or something to get it to the right level.

I made all the MDF rings myself....I'm only countersinking the sub, so the others were simple to do. Jigsaw & sander.

I still don't like having the component speakers placed there, but other than that, it looks good. A lot better than the previous one you had planned. :thumbsup

Okay, here are some more pics.

The fleece is drying now, we'll see how it turns out. One spot it wasn't pulled tight enough and there's a bit of a crease, but hopefully with glass, bondo, and sandpaper all will be fine. Also not sure if I mixed the resin properly, I sort of miscalculated. It's drying right now so we'll see.

Does the fleece go down onto the 2 dividers? It doesn't look like it....everything would be sharing a common chamber if that were the case....

I would cut out the holes after your finished glassing then I would separate each area with bondo, silicon, or liquid nails. Understand?

Yeah, each end of the box where the speakers are have no back on them, so i figure I should be able to glass from there to seal off each side?

What kind of sub is that? Looks like everyone is getting into the super sub class...

It's just a 10" Clarion XW. Nothing really special....top of the line clarion though. My friend has 2x12" and they pound pretty good.

Thanks, hopefully I can recover from that big mistake ;) I don't think it will sound too bad. Could've been better if I had time to make kickpanels, but I didn't. So we'll see.

I think you guys will be waiting a little while though, =P. I'm going away for a week. Won't be back until the 21st, then I'll be finishing up these speakers. If I have time before I leave I'll patch up the inside to seperate the enclosures.
