View Full Version : Is it possible to fit 3.5 net cubes in...

My pontiac bonneville? It must go in through the trunk and the trunk is only 32" wide.

I have the dimensions for this box around (i dont know the specific numbers) 32", 25" deep, 15" high..

Point being, i need 3.7 cubes through that 32" gap and it cannot be higher than 15", im not sure how the depth would seeing as the box has to go in cok-eyed to begin with

with wood that was .75 thick you would end up around 5.5 cubes.
at 1.5 " thick you would end up around 4.4... so yes...

i dont know how we could tell for u, unless someone on here has done the exact same thing in the same car, get some pieces of cardboard taped together in a rough shape of those dimensions and see what you have to do

should be able to, my daughter has a 2001 grand am pretty much the same type off deal .i put a 4^3 kerfed port box in hers with a custom dc lvl 2 15 on 800 watts rms ,its crazy loud ,she says way to much bass for her.

I think its possible too, its just that the pro box builder who built my last one said it was impossible to fit 4.5 in there, and has an aversion against a 3.7.... these guys who offered to do it for the cost of wood said they could no problem.

They took measures and are working on it now, im just curious myself. I hope a bigger box results in the tonal output i think i should be getting.... They are using 5/8" wood, i think its particle board

With that 12volt.com calculator it looks like i can get some pretty good boxes around 5-6 cubes in here... i'll have to experiment one day :o

Welp, the dimensions are 32 by 15 by 25, which is like.. 5.8cubes? Is that too much for the GPI?(DC XL 15)

Torres doesn't account for port displacement when using aeroports.

that about 5.6 cubes try 27.5 wide times 16.5tall times 15 deep the inside was 26 wide times 15 tall times 13.5 deep =5265 cubic inches divided by 1728 equals 3.047 cubic foot if any thing you could throw it in here at this link. by the way those sizes we had a hard time fitting them in a g6 at school if any thing like it tere will be a hard time fitting it.

As long as it isnt over 32W it fits with a bit of rotating :). Gets old after having a 60lb woofer in it tho, but its all good

eww.. No. that's awful material for an enclosure. use 3/4 mdf.

We've had very bad luck with mdf lately. Screws falling out of the box, cracks and seeps with 5/8 mdf.

Use 3/4, and use a pilot drill bit if you are using screws. It's easy material to work with if you do it right. There's a reason why it's used so extensively. There are written tutorials, and how-to videos, if you're having trouble. But don't use particle board.

Looks like he updated it. When I first got on SMD I checked some of the screen shots people posted up and it did not at that time...1.5-2 years ago. I brought it up to him via PM, checked back a few months later and it was the same. I see now that it does.

Box is done and we managed to fit it. 4.2cubes net @ 25hz (actually messed up the hz calculations from 28 and got 25, but it was too late to go back)

Thing hits low as all hell
