Well I have been here for awhile and usually just keep my builds to my self so I suppose it is time to do a build log...

This build is in my new (to me) rig a 99 Honda CRV or as my buddies and I call it the Silver Serve... It will be a more SQ based setup but with a little volume and a not so huge budget so some things I will be redoing/adding when I feel the need...

Equipment-

Head Unit/Processing- Eclipse CD 7100
Mids & Highs- Early 2000's Diamond Audio Hex's with Silk Tweets (Eton Made)
Sub Stage- Sundown SD-2 8's (sealed) however they are on preorder so I will have something temporary which has yet to be decided
Amps- MMATs SQ Hifi 6 channel (1/2 for tweets, 3/4 for mids, 5/6 bridged for subs)
Deadener- MurderMat 87 & 90 mill and some close out Ixos Deadener
Wiring- 2/0 Welding cable for main power and all other wiring is Knukoncepts
Electrical- XS Power D2700
Misc Install- TechFlex Clean Cut, wire Loom, sheet metal, spray foam, and 6.5" mounting rings from AVpriority on Ebay...

I am slowly working on the looks but its already better then when I got it... I will eventually get everything paint matched, windows tinted, rims, HID's/LED's and other minor things...

I had to drill a couple holes in the back of the spare tire well for the power to enter and the ground to go out... All of the extra wire and fuse is tucked up under the rear bumper area...

Taking the time to the techflex and the small things like that make a huge difference. I was always too lazy to make things clean. I was more worried about loud to worry about pretty. Lol now I have pretty much given up on audio.. but I'm more in to the simple clean builds these days. Good work so far! I'm curious to see what you think of the 8s when they come in also..

Might want to have another way for those wires to be secured, that thin gauge wire has a tendency to rust quickly and since it is already weakened by the twisting it could potentially break loose. Otherwise making good progress!

They are pretty easy to work on... I have done a couple little maintainence things that where all easy to get to...

I tinted the taillights so they would blend with the windows when they get tinted... I may do a write up on that if anyone is interested...

Are you using stock battery terminals? Did you test the resistance of that grounding location? Where are you mounting the crossovers? From what I've read deep 6.5"s are a pita to fit... I'm doing an '03 starting tomorrow so I'll chime in on that. I didn't get any speaker mounting plates as I usually just make them with MDF and prime them for water resistance... but I'm beginning to think I should have just bought some to save time. Good work so far I'll be watching

well youve got a good start

Here is the start of doing the doors... I decided I needed to drill holes for the wires so I might as well just take the doors completely off since it would make deadening much easier as well...

So a couple minutes later we had them off lol...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/44A1330B-F105-4FA6-8AE5-BAA5FC61D9DF-24327-00001418451EF7CF.jpg

I set them up on the table to the deadening and drilling...

Here is the start of doing the doors... I decided I needed to drill holes for the wires so I might as well just take the doors completely off since it would make deadening much easier as well...

So a couple minutes later we had them off lol...

I set them up on the table to the deadening and drilling...

After I got everything cleaned up I started deadening the doors and fabricating some sheet metal to seal the main holes up... The metal was from a filing cabinet that broke when I was moving a month ago so I took what I could from it...

Here is the pic of them cleaned up again so you can see a before and after...

Nicely done/props for working with the materials you have. Did you modify the plastic door panels? The CR-V I just did had some foam that would fill some of the factory cutouts. Tight spaces for sure.. keep up the good work

Thanks man... Ya I do have to cut the panels since in this body style the speakers sit in pods that are a part of the panels themselves and my diamonds are way to big to fit

Since the stock wires are ran as a plug into the door I couldnt get my Mid and Tweet wires ran through that way so I had to cut holes into the cab and doors... It was a pretty easy process I just used a step bit and then bought some tubing to act as grommet and weather protection...

Here are the holes on the cab... I figured right next to the plug was a good place so I just went for it...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/39E49939-8A8A-4F1B-B703-8611F6AEAFCB-24327-0000141798D572D1.jpg

And here they are on the door...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/D3788323-B4F7-43D1-90D6-71AD7E625627-24327-000014179FC7205E.jpg

Here is the tubing and wires ran through...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/1B1FDEED-8902-4608-948B-1CD0635302FA-8596-000008327C21FFF0.jpg

You can see the tubing in between the cab and doors right above the door stop...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/8BF0708E-C2A5-4E17-8E27-00A5C91ED37E-8596-00000832764DC73B.jpg

They lined up about perfect to come through into the cab with the rest of the wires which is why I drilled so close to the stock plug...

Yes sir It certainly does.I figured that it would be a real PITA, but doest look like it..Just a little more time consuming.i will be conducting this by myself of course:D,Make take me a couple hours for both doors, but will be worth it later on ,as always.I will be deadening the doors as well. There is quite a bit of road noise in that vehicle for sure, and I will be taking time to try to control as much as needed.Very nice Job/informative as well.I am thinking that the speakers in the existing location will fit with modifications, and thinking existing grills will not go back in place possibly. Not real sure about that one.i thank you sir:santa:

This is what I meant by paint matching too (Door handles, Mirrors, Bumpers, ext) I think they look much better this way...

Havent been around a laptop for awhile so I am trying to get pics up... Here is some quick shots of all the wires Techflexed up...

I ran the remote wire inside the wrapping with my 2ch RCA's to keep it hidden and use the wire pants to keep the same look... Ill get better pics of this later since its looks very clean IMO...

Getting the wires ran, RCA's down the middle and mid/tweet wires down each side... Also laid down that IXOS deadener just cuz... Used Gorilla tape to keep them in line which worked well

Before shots while it was still light... The Deadener is already laid down here (Black rubber looking mat)

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/0B68E8E8-49AF-4CA2-B47F-CEB9F7E005B2-5004-000004C71A3B6C2E.jpg

After, sorry they are hard to see... RCA's ran underneath the E brake panel... The speaker wires for the passenger side are ran in holes along the side (Red circles)

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/421B5620-9212-425F-976D-BA68202C3BB2-5004-000004C72910B374-1.jpg

You saw the wires come into the cab from the doors through the holes that I had to drill... from there they run down each side in stock cut holes (red circles up above) and then under the rear seat to meet up with the RCA's where the extra will be spooled up...

Hahaha luckily everything is going to clear the table perfectly but I may do something to it... I did just get a little vice though I wonder if I could do something with that? I was gunna do a power inverter for when I do work out of my car...

If you do work out of your car involving a router you could make a router table to the same dimensions!

But I was thinking more along the lines of a nice wooden table and some place mats, wine glasses, and candle stick holder. You could have a classy dinner date in whichever shopping mall parking lot you choose... Tell her to meet you at the local Target, park with each of your trunks an appropriate distance apart (end to end), and use the tailgates for seating. Your originality will be appreciated by any woman worthwhile

Here are the pics of the tweets and how I mounted them... I just used the stock swivel mounts, marked the right angle, drilled the holes, and bolted them in... Nothing fancy but it will work for now...

Had to cut some notches for that mess of wires to run underneath the table to the amp and allow the back seats to lay flat... The The first notches I had to grind down are right next to my buddys thump and then I had to cut a notch in that main brace the table and folding floor pieces mount...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/EDFDC865-0084-4904-87B2-396A68B314BC-32324-00001FB9934156F8.jpg

After I got that done I filed the edges down and I used some of the fuel line to keep the wires from getting cut...

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww52/busta_grose/915F8A45-2DDF-4517-9E11-1602FFBCB642-22936-000015C895E4183B.jpg

Then got to running the wires to the back... I had to keep them flat (again using gorrilla tape) to one side so the spare tire well I cut the holes in a couple pages back would sit flush...

Thanks man, what year is yours? I am going to be finishing it up soon... This build has taken me so much longer then I had planned for one reason or another... For RCAs, I use Stinger Zero Noise,A little expensive, but some of the best RCAs in my opinion..I dont run anything else any longer..As for Work Space..I have rented a 10x30 before, and was $1 for the first months rent, and had a light inside, and I used that outlet for power,lol..Some times I had to use my generator, but, a warehouse works well.I had one that you could come in 24/7 rather than the Permitted time.Kinda miss it actually
