First question, do you want to listen to someone who knows what they're talking about or just listen to yourself and ignore the adivce? Is this just gonna be for beatn' around the block and not competeing?

I'm willing to spend more but not break the bank over it. I could probably throw a few hundred more into the bank if it makes sense. What do you suggest?

Yep. Without the budget there's not much we can recommend.

---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 PM ----------

1000 bucks is a pretty decent budget if you've already got the head unit. Let's see what I can figure out.

What kind of sound are you looking for? SQ,SQL, or SPL?

snoopdan
10-09-2012, 05:28 PM
APSM-1500 - $129
XFL 12's - $200 each

you can keep the box ya got, won't make much difference.

BOOM!

05fronty
10-09-2012, 05:30 PM
you will need wiring also

naughtyca
10-09-2012, 05:32 PM
1000 is a lot of money if you want just subs of rms 400watts, look at the 600watt range subwoofers like Skar, sundown, ssa, etc..

look at this store you cannot go wrong on any sub here

Sub Woofers - SSA STORE (http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/categories/sub-woofers.html)

rangertjsc
10-09-2012, 05:33 PM
Probably more sided towards SQL

05fronty
10-09-2012, 05:35 PM
Probably more sided towards SQL

then just get a single nice 12, throw 1-2k on it and be done with it. sound better and be louder than what you described anyway

yeah,...true that....

1 XFL 12" in a nice box and an APSM-1500 would get him rockn' fo' cheap.

Anyone else see this?

Two tweeters pre-installed in enclosure

Anyways...
Can you fit a 15"?
SSD15 - Fi Car Audio Store (http://store.ficaraudio.com/ssd15/)
$224 + ship
And I like these amps; http://www.caraudio.com/forums/amplifier-classifieds/558077-memphis-16-mcd1000.html
$250+ ship
You can get a box built from a vendor around here, or do it yourself if you are willing to learn.

I think that would be a solid combination.

Edit: It is not too hard to do the installation yourself, we can help you out. I'd use the remaining budget to make sure your electrical is solid: Search for the "Big 3" upgrade here. You'll want to buy a 1/0 wiring kit if your car isn't wired yet. Copper Clad Aluminum (http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KCA-PK0) should be sufficient.

Probably more sided towards SQL

I am not trying to be rude, but I don't think you know SQL from the first choice of subs you were looking for. you might not know it but I think SPL with deep sounding bass and at 30Hz to blur your mirrors, and at 45hz you want the bass to hit you in the chest like an explosion

I think this is what you are looking for.

didn't see the mention of the tweeters in the enclosure posted previously. That's a tale tale sign of junk right there.

Why is everyone recommending he get a 12" or two?
He's got a Denali XL. A good quality, entry-to-mid level 18" and then whatever amp is going to be more cost effective, not to mention EVERYONE has 2 12's. A 15" or an 18" would fill out that trunk with a much better look, IMO... Plus, 1 sub = less work for him to do on his first install. Even if it is marginally more simple / slightly less opportunities for a mistake, I think its still a bonus. 1 Cutout, 2 coils, more options for box dimensions needing only 1 woofer on the baffle... I think he should go with an 18".

OP dont listen to all these fuc€ing retards they dont know what theyre talking about.

if you say budget is $1000 theyll tell you to buy 2 $300 subs & a $400 amp.

you still need wiring, deadener, & a box.

dont spend more than $5-600 on subs & amp if your budget is $1000 so you have enough cash to get everything else you need.

all these dumba$$es giving bad advice should be skull fu˘ked & banned.

^^^Exactly. A single 12" in a Denali? He's not gonna be happy. A single 15" or 18" is my vote. OP, I'd say see what kind of deals you can get on an amp in the 1500~2000 watt range, and then pick a sub based on your leftover budget, but don't forget about wiring and the box.

Keep in mind I'm from an SQ and practicality school of thought, so I'm thinking find a decent, powerful sub under 200 that plays well with proper amplification that doesn't take up all of his cargo space. If that's not a concern I think a good 18 would suit him well.

I was trying to find the link to that sale, but am on limited resources here at work. I think he sent the amps to db-r for repair.

You serious? 1 18" SSD is going to be under $300.
1 good condition ~1000w amp is going to be under $300.
Wiring is $100.

That's $700. He can build a box himself, or I'm sure get one on here, and have plenty for deadening and a case of beer to celebrate his first successful install.

Trolling someone who ACTUALLY PUTS EFFORT into making their post legible, and is obviously intent on doing this, is something totally different. Go fvck yourself. This is an advice thread, how is he supposed to know you are trolling?
