Im upgrading the stock system in my 98 A4. i have to go 5.25 component in the front. no room for anything bigger. there is space for 6.5s in the rear doors but from what im reading just keeping the stocks ran off the HU and spending more on the front stage is the way to go.
so i just remembered i have a $150 voucher for amazon. so that would raise my budget for the 5.25 component set. i spend 200 plus the $150 in vouchers.basically anything below $350
options i see now:
focal polyglass vr 130
Boston pro 50 se
jbl evo c5 525
hertz esk 130
ppi 355 cs
rainbow slc 230.25 ng

there are others in the <$350 price bracket on amazon like the jbl ms-52c which would leave more money for other materials, i was considering a audiocontrol lc6i/lc7 but not even sure i would need it with this amp.I will be retaining the stock HU.
so anyways i would really appreciate the help, the amp and subs are on the way and i need to make a decision. your help will be greatly appreciated.if any of you wants to buy the vouchers then let me know and maybe i can broaden my choices a bit.

the parts so far:
hertz es200 (x2)
ARC audio 4150 cxlr

yet to buy:
5.25 component set
wiring/installation kit
sound deadening & foam

any stuff that you guys have for sale that i can use in the install, let me know, i have no idea where the best deals on the deadening and wiring kits are

I myself would go with the Bostons as my first pic for spl type, and for more of the SQ side, Id go for the Hertz

So the ng Rainbows not so much. Those hertz are under budget then, what should I throw in the rear then to fill it out a bit?

just go active and be done with it.
WoofersEtc.com - XS-28 - Image Dynamics 28mm Silk Dome Tweeters (Pair) (http://www.woofersetc.com/p-5718-xs-28-image-dynamics-28mm-silk-dome-tweeters-pair.aspx) some nice tweets for the $, spend the rest of you Amazon $ on other things you might need.

Madisound Speaker Store (http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-5-woofers/silver-flute-w14rc25-04-ohm-5-1/2-wool-cone/) x2, you prolly will need spacers with the others anyways, might as well get a touch more cone area and a smooth response with good sensitivity.

just my.02 for a good set of comps at $160 bucks if good sound is what you are after. Spend a little extra on sound dampening the inside of your car and focus on tweet imaging and midbass install for even better results..

Possibly. That setup will likely rival anything in your List though.

I don't like lower line Focal or Hertz stuff too much. I love Boston, Rainbow and JL. But each has their own type of sound that u may or may not like. Going active with raw drivers saves u money and allows up more control over your final sound and u have the opportunity to try more drivers than your average user.

that means ill have to go ahead and get another amp for the sub then.......mmmm,im getting better quality but now i would need another amp for the sub......now the ARC 4150 is starting to seem overkill for that front stage setup????? are there any crossovers i could use to go with the options quackhead suggested if i wanted to change back?i suppose i could always just sell them and go back to passive if it dont work.

Well I've got the ARC 4ch amp and 2 hertz es200 subs here and found a nice little 2 channel 300w rms that I can bridge for the subs. Also picked up a set of xs28 tweeters but they are still to be shipped.
Officially going active going on you guys reccomendations !!!. I am down to buying the last pieces- the mids/woofers. It's either those silver flutes (w14rc25-04) or a pair of peerless sls (830945).
These have to be fixed to the door card as theres no way to mount them in the door itself and best I can do is dampen the doors, not really possible to get a good seal. I'm gonna post up pictures of the door and card first chance to see what you guys think. I won't be modifying the outside of the door card though. Any other woofer/ mid you guys might reccomend?? I want to stay below $50 each on them.cannot go above 5.5"

Was about tO pull the trigger on the peerless as I see alot of people use them. Said ill come and ask find out what you guys think first, the peerless have a great reduction on them at madisound. Maybe I'll order both and whichever suit the best stay in the car and build some home audio 2 ways with the others?
