So I bought a new Kenwood DDX419 head unit and am about to install it but have some questions about wiring the harness. I have a 2011 Honda Civic and this is the harness it uses:

Now this is the wiring setup for my Head Unit:

Now I got most of the wiring figured out, but I'm not sure about some of them. First the blue/white wire for my head unit (power control wire) is the remote turn on for my amplifiers correct?

Second you will see that the Civic harness has a positive illumination/dimmer wire AND a negative illumination/dimmer wire. My head unit has only one wire for illumination/dimmer, but does not specify negative or positive. Would I connect the head unit illumination/dimmer wire to just the positive illumination/dimmer wire on the civic harness?

Then the head unit has a blue wire for antenna control wire, I'm guessing this will not be used? Finally there is the mute wire for the head unit. My civic harness doesn't have anything for mute, so would this wire not be used as well? The mute wire on the head unit is for the bluetooth, which I do plan on using.

Thanks for your help guys

Didn't you get a plug and play harness adapter from sosche or Metra for your Honda that includes an antenna adapter also.

Once you have the adapter kit for your car, you just plug and play. The only thing you don't want to do is use the factory ground, you use a new ground for the new HU and any accessory connected to it. Sometimes the antenna adapters have a wire that may need switched pos for better reception and you can use the HU antenna remote wire for that if the fm reception is bad.

As long as you have a scrapped painted ground for the HU you connect all other grounds there for other items like SW controll adapters, HD or xm radio external devices, all should share the same ground different than the factory to avoid unwanted noise during radio reception or even other sources.

This! There is no need to create your own wiring harness when you can grab one for $15 bucks from Best Buy, Walmart, or a local shop.

Per Crutchfield...

Installation Details for your 2011 Honda Civic LX Sedan
This item fits your vehicle
If the factory radio is replaced, the factory AUX input connection will be lost.
The color of this installation kit is taupe.
The OEM integration package includes a replacement dash panel that matches your vehicle's interior. You'll need to remove the climate controls from your factory radio/dash panel and then attach them to the new kit.

Wire harness is $9.99 and antenna adapter is $7.99

Yeah 15-20 for a harness kit metra or sosche, like I said in the first post, plug and play, even factory speaker wire can be used with some of those harnesses jut tap into harness from speaker leads from the amp. Newer Honda have good quality 16 gauge speaker wiring, just need the color code to figure out - +.

Hopefully the op will report and give an update about the action taken

Yes I did but I still have to solder the wires coming from the HU to the harness adapter that came in my dash kit and then plug that adapter into my honda harness.

The wires coming from the HU are explained in the manual I posted pictures of. The wiring manual for the adapter harness ***** **** and isn't helpful besides telling me where the power, ground and acc go lol.

But at any rate I got it all wired up and installed. I emailed Kenwood themselves and gave them the link to this thread and they answered all my questions. Thanks guys
