allright i plan on walling 2 18's behind the front seats of a car on a 4k...i have heard that a driverside port tuned high will get me the most db's is this true? if not what configuration with 2 18's on 4k will get me the loudest?
p.s. not looking at 4th or 6th order just ported

you want to be able to play music with it? Or will it be strictly for spl/burps

not 2 worried about sound quality, ill still play music with it for demos but primarily looking to get numbers with burps

I think you have the right idea.

so do i just make the port as far over to the right as i can? and should i try to make it the height of the car, up higher, or down lower? and what should i tune it to?

subs on passenger side, port on driver side vertically....going pretty much all the way up and down the right side

35-45 hz seems like a broad range

Do you have a specific db score in mind?

find out the resonant frequency of the car and tune a bit below that...

a 707 enclosure sweeps and a tl...

So I would have to build the wall first and then put it on TL and just see what frequency plays the loudest? what's a 707 enclosure

No. You use a sealed box with a QTS of 707. Run a sweep to find its peak. That will get you peak of the car. Then you tune your box just below that and hope the box meets the car. trial and error

but the volume of my car will be cut in half after I wall it....

honestly... if you are going for high numbers and winning comps, invest in a monster 12 and burp it on the 4k that you have. you will dominate the lower classes with some testing and work. if you do wall you will be put in the extreme classes where people are running a lot more power and have a lot more experience... just my 2 cents.

Your cabin resonance will definitely change with wall in.

Where do they meter in your org? Port up top tends to work well if you meter at the kick. otherwise driver's side.

You should plan to tune around 55-60hz, use 20-25" port per cube of box volume. If you plan right it will be easy to add a little length to the port if you end up tuning too high. Much easier to add more port length or reduce port area, then reduce length and add port area after it's done.
