Hello i have a Chronic Audio 15" Subwoofer it is a QVC, Which means it has 4+ terminals, and 4- ones. Each of the coils is rated at 2-ohms. IT IS NOT THE SUBWOOFER SHOWN ON THE CHRONICAUDIO.COM WEBSITE!!!!!!!! I am attaching a photo of the subwoofer that i have, Sorry for the bad angle, and yes i am sure it is a QVC it is 15" not 12 or 10.

If you take the time to help me research this subwoofer, I Sincerely THANK YOU!

I want too run around 1000w-1500w Cruising around 34hz, could anyone please help me i am totally lost in a puzzle and i really wanna build a solid box for this sub i built a few for friends in the past and they work amazing! Im sure i have the woodworking skills too do this! I am also putting this in the trunk of a 2012 Civic Coupe the trunk space is not bad at all i fit a 2.9cube box in there no problem!!! :naughty: I thank you thank you thank you thank you for your help if you chose too because im running around in circles looking for answers!

if memory serves me correctly, there a small company out of Oklahoma that just never got any love.. most of there stuff is low end and cheap flea market quality, but i remember them having a very good spl driver QVC which is what you are talking about.. they claimed it could take like 15k or something redonkulas, but realistically only took like 4-5k burps... not very popular and i bet very few people on hear will no who they are. in real world rms power i would not do more then 1000rms.. and check temp of sub with 1000rms after about 10mins and see how hot it is.. it should take 1krms with no issue..

Well alot of people told me this sub was alot more, theres a video of this plugged into a wall socket for over a minute. The person who previously had it was running a Soundstream tx.2600 that thing puts out 5000w at .5 ohms i seen this running LOUD

Don't know anything about the sub, but 2.9 cubes is pretty small for a 15.

2.9 cube seems pretty small for a 15, especially if that is including port and sub displacement. I however dont know anything about this sub, so maybe it likes small boxes

^^^ beat me to it

i measured the magnet its legit 10"

Even so... A small box 15" usually likes 3+ cubes ported after all displacements

I wanna run about 1000w-1500w rms with 34hz about how many cubes should i go for i wanna do slot port faceing the front of the sub so that i can put it in a trunk

Since you have the website, which has contact info, why dont you email the company and ask them for t/s parameters, then someone on here can properly design a box for you.

Get another pic of the motor..... If you really wanted to build the best enclosure possible for that woofer u need to pull the t/s specs with something like this

by looking at the spider I wouldn't expect a ton of excursion out of it at least not what the surround makes it look capable of.

bro that is totally not cheap. Throw it in 4.5 cubes and just lay the power into it. If you could take it back to the store you bought it from, I would try that first. If not, just run it till it's heart stops.

ChronicSPL
07-31-2012, 08:31 PM
The fact it retails for over $1000

skylineTT
07-31-2012, 08:34 PM
I can put a 1000 dollar price tag on anything. It doesn't make it worth that much. You could have picked up a MUCH better woofer with that much money.

ChronicSPL
07-31-2012, 08:35 PM
So how much should i run too it cruising 1000w rms? With a 4.5 cube box?

07-31-2012, 08:40 PM
sja built ?? or fi built ?

skylineTT
07-31-2012, 08:43 PM
1000 would probably be safe and make it move a good bit in 4.5 cubes. Just from the looks of it, and something about how old it looks makes me feel this way, I would think the Fs on it is pretty low. Just looks like the cone would flop like a flacid **** so you could get away with tuning around 32 easily to have something that could play a tad bit lower if you're into the lower bass.

ChronicSPL
07-31-2012, 08:43 PM
Im pretty sure sja

skylineTT

again though, this is just a gut feeling sort of thing

ChronicSPL

So how would you recomend the port?

---------- Post added at 08:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:45 PM ----------

Like i said its going to be in the trunk of a 2012 civic coupe

infamous_e46
07-31-2012, 08:47 PM
if it is sja built i say it can take 1k easy

ChronicSPL
07-31-2012, 08:48 PM
Im not looking for somthing perfect i was just looking for 34hz around 1000ws concerning trunk space is not that limited but is limited to the access so 4.5 cubes is pretty easly optainable.

---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ----------

Im sure its built by atomic its similar too a atomic beast

skylineTT
07-31-2012, 08:48 PM
If you can aero port it, that is always preferable in my book.

ChronicSPL
07-31-2012, 08:54 PM
Err i never made a aero port

That is the same at the Atomic Apocalypse QVC sub that was out..

skylineTT

Ehh, you don't really "make" them. It is really easy. You can just buy 4" PVC pipe and cut it to the correct length for the tuning you want, then mount it into your enclosure and you're set.

ChronicSPL

Do you know around how much it could handle cruising?

07-31-2012, 09:58 PM
Depends, I would stick with no more then 1500rms daily.

For enclosure I would suggest around 4-4.5ft net with generous port area.
