tried putting a sheet of mdf or something 2-3" behind the box and sealing that off between?

guessing here... one of the "smarter peeps" might now more about it... but I would guess still getting waves coming off the back wall feeding out... maybe even just cordboard around the box leaving 2-3" and then great stuff it

the rear of my box has tons of flex so i bet thats it. ill put some pine ofer it for a double baffle.

fill your trunk with concrete.

fill your trunk with concrete.
i prolly could get away with it. cheap way to lower it

why not 2x4's to cover the back of the box, much more solid then 1" pine...

im going to get 2 pine 2x4's for it. im not so set on keeping the 2 common wall box anyway

Threaded rod?

2x4's from the outside...cheaper/easier/less work then threaded rod and fiberglass

I like the concrete idea, hell, just make a sub box out of concrete.

doing a concrete box is easy. make a box out of OSB. make another box out of OSB around that one that is 4-6" larger but open on the sub side. (OSB is made from resin-soaked wood fibers in alternating strands - it is inherently resistant to moisture, i.e. concrete/water). mix and pour concrete in. now you have a box where 5 of the 6 sides are 4-6" of concrete.

Make sure every possible hole is covered. Check the side panels, and rear deck. Then like what was said brace the **** out of your back wall.

impossible to get it to NOT be louder with the trunk open. ive seen multiple trunk systems sealed off, including mine, and no amount of foam and panels can keep the pressure from going to the trunk and "cancelling" out. im pretty positive all sealed off trunk systems are louder with the trunk open. just my experiance.

^Agreed. either concrete or live with it.

you should still reinforce the box regardless. flex = lost dB's

sealed every single hole possible and it freaking still does this........its killing my 0-1800 score.

my score was always louder with the trunk open so why not just leave it open and be happy with the gain?

sounds like some horrible cancellation.

because 0-1800 is pure sealed

sounds like some horrible cancellation.

i think it could be my port idk

in that case you need to unseal the trunk and run in like usaci ppl and do subs all the way to the back of the trunk and put batts and amps on side or in spare tire well

Most Lilly between the port and woofers phasing..
I'd try to build a deeper larger box to act like a wave guide..
Search for acoustic coupling..

its a 2 common wall port but im going to a 3 common wall port on the drivers side. see if that fixes it

papermaker
08-05-2012, 03:32 AM
It won't change much.
you would be better off with one driver on the passengers side and port on the drivers side..
