What the hell? Is there some magic button or series of buttons I have to push to turn the sub out on?

I'm just running my fronts on HU power until I decide on my 4 channel, but I'm in 3-way network mode and I don't have a sub output level. Is there one in network mode? If not, that is seriously lame. Does the sub RCA work when using HU power for fronts? It has to. I installed my sub amp today and I didn't have to time to diagnose ****, but I gots powa, but no sound.

And wtf is up with Pandora? Why does it lock up everytime I open the app? And why the hell can't I switch back and forth betwen Pandora and my music library on the same USB?

Ugh. It's about to become a projectile. The stupid manual is useless.

I think I lost your number because I just looked for it. You still have mine? Shoot me a text before I go "Office Space" PC load letter on this thing.

ARG!!! Stupid reset button.

Thanks, TJ.

All is well. But, just so y'all know... there's no sub level control in 3-way network mode. Lame.

not like Alpine HUs with 3-way where you can control the Sub output level? wow that is sucky.

You can still run active + sub in "standard" mode with sub level control. I've yet to figure out the difference or benefit of network mode though.

Never had a 9835. I've had a 7998 and it's not quite that good. It's killing the 117 I had though.

I don't believe there is a parametric option. Dual 16 band graphic is a lot of EQ though. Well... for a HU

Very subjective... but yeah. The 7998 was better. Don't confuse that with the 9887 though. The one I'm talking about is the old school phantom face. I've heard the 9887 though and it's good. What and what with the 80prs, but without all the features and not as much EQ.

Page 25 of the manual shows LEVEL adjustments for LOW/MID/HIGH. -24 to +6 for the sub (LOW), same as my 880.

Had me worried about no sub level as I'm installing a prs80 in a friend's ride next week.

with respect to intergration features - yes.

with respect to tuning - no

a 16 band eq is less useful than a parametric (but the graphic is easier for most people to use).

if you need to EQ, you should consider correcting the speaker installation first. speaker aiming and crossover selection goes a long way to negating EQ needs. i ditched the H701 to run solely the 9887 because the extra processor just added noise. with the H701 i took time to RTA each driver and EQ each driver. while it helped, it wasn't natural. now that I have fixed my speaker installations, my EQ is flat.

The 99REX is way ahead of anything mentioned in this thread.

Alpine makes sub level control the #1 adjustment when you press the volume knob. always has. it's the right thing to do.

Pioneer makes you dig through a menu. that is just stupid.

In general, Pioneer head units have always been cumbersome to navigate.

The older Alpine HU's were annoying in that the tuning menus timed out quickly and you had to save a preset to save the setting.

The 9887 allows for fast comparison of the 6 presets for each tuning option (crossover, eq, t/a). I can change t/a presets (on seat vs two seats) in about 4 seconds. and more importantly, it always saves the adjustment without needing to save to a preset. this is huge.

And yes, by adjusting the level of each output you do achieve a "sub level". but spending 30 seconds looking for it isn't very useful.

and we all know about Pioneer's noise issues.

I'm an Alpine fan, have been for almost 20 years. Even before I had a car, i was helping install Alpine head units.
