ok, so I built some tweeter pods

started with PVC caps. I determined that a 40 deg angle was desired from the apillars.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/0424121212.jpg

so i started with the cup

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/JeepLaradoTweeters1002.jpg

and drilled holes at a 40deg angle

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/JeepLaradoTweeters1006.jpg

and repeat

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/JeepLaradoTweeters1009.jpg

the threaded lamp rod gives a wire path also

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/JeepLaradoTweeters1001.jpg

and paint

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/phat_funky_beats/2003%20Jeep%20Tweeters/JeepLaradoTweeters014.jpg

and test fit

soldered wire

twisted wire and added closed cell foam to get the tweeter to sit

How do you decide on the angle?

keep_hope_alive
06-09-2012, 07:53 PM
angle depends on where you want to aim. you can see the laser pointer. i use that to aim at the C-pillar. then the protractor told me the angle.

that depends on how on- or off-axis you want the tweeters

that depends on the tweeters themselves and if you want a one-seat or a two-seat sound stage.

for the jeep, we did a one-seat soundstage setup. as such, we could aim the tweeters at the C-pillars. keeps the tweeters mostly on-axis with the front seats for more volume and detail. T/A is required though.

keep_hope_alive
06-09-2012, 07:57 PM
a few things i left out.

i twist wire with a drill. just insert the two ends in the drill, hold the other end, and activate drill. quickly twists wires.

the close cell foam is what holds the tweeter in the cup. tweeter is rotatable for the logo, and removable, with no adhesives or fasteners. and it is in there tight.

well thought i would have the box done today, but a couple of the slots for the kerfed port the glue didnt hold very well so had to reglue them and there going to dry over night again. got some painting done on the other hand tho.

im going to be running a lethal injection 15 in a 3.5cube box tuned to 32hz on an alpine pdx-v9 with the incriminator comps and coaxial. all in a little nissan versa hatchback. should be decently loud.

i broke the ignition in my column by playin 22hz drops.... my doors and rear window are the major points of flex, the roof is solid because of all the deadener.... cant wait to see what that warden will do on more power.
