i've heard mixed opinions on this subject. can anybody help?

no, they are meant to attract noobs b/c they "sound" loud and have an extremely limited frequency response band. They sound like utter ****, all notes sound the same...do not get a bandpass box. Go with a sealed if you are buying one pre-made. Go ported only if u plan on making your own with thought out plans from some1 w/ box making software...or check out www.gnomeaudio.com for custom built boxes if needed. peace

Bandpass = ****** music. They get really loud, but that is pretty much it. If you don't care how it sounds and you want it loud then go with it but that is you choice to waste your money on it. Sealed is the easiest to make and sound good. But if you know what you are doing or have connections then go ported. Otherwise stick to sealed. Ask ngsm13 for advice he might help ya. He was nice enough to help me with my ported box. Thanks goes out to him.
