Just got my first pictures of the first completed prototype of the new SAZ-1500D v.3 model... so the cat is out of the bag on this one! As the model that got us started it is only appropriate that it is the first model to be shown in the 2012 trim!

Newly tooled 2012 casing -- you can still tell it IS a Sundown amp but it is a refresher and also narrower. The FETs are mounted at a 45 degree angle to shrink the width AND avoid spring clips (which I've never liked). So we are getting the best of both worlds on that.

* Fully custom tooled boards for all of our new 2012 models complete with fans. More photos to come as I get the other models done! Yes... you do see 16 power supply FETs in this amp along with four transformers.

* We will use the fancier RCA plugs for production.

So this has many things I've been asked for (smaller size and fan) and MANY improvements to design that were really just personal goals of mine. The entire line is stable to 19v as well.

Power testing to come when it arrives... the SAX-125.4 model should be showing up within a week or so as well. Pictures of the completed prototype coming soon too!

The 2012 line-up is going to look like so :

SAX-150.2 (last one we will do)
SAX-125.4
SAZ-1200D (now a full SAZ model)
SAZ-1500D v.3
SAZ-2500D v.2
SAZ-3500D v.2

All of them will feature the new style casing and all new board designs.

What's the pricing gonna be on the 1500? I know it's still early but I may wait on buying an amp of the price is there

Jake, can you give a rough estimate of when the 1200s will be available for sale?

Not yet. The SAZ-1200D design is still in the works as it is all new. We concentrated on the 1500D v.3 and 125.4 first along with the new casing.

SAX-125.4

Hmmm... this sure does look small, huh ?

Tested Power Factory Spec :
138x4 at 4

GUTS of SAX-125.4 model -- lots of stuff packed in there... we did opt for some surface mount parts in this guy to pack it in as small of a case as we could. Traditionally we shy away from them but I think they will work well in a multi-channel unit and afford us the small size our customers want.

Crossover is equal to the SAX-100.4d except we had to lose the 12/24dB selection on the crossover -- it is fixed on 24 dB now.

Jacob, you just made my day......I've got customers that were wanting the 100.4 but just didn't want to give up that much or have that much space for a multi-channel....this is gonna be nice...

Production starts next week on the SAZ-1500D v.3 and SAX-125.4 so stay tuned for pre-ordering information.

More 2012 amplifier prototypes will be rolling in before too much longer as well... the SAZ-2500D v.2 will be the next one coming in for testing. Hopefully withing a week or so!

We do have one final run of "2011" model 2500/3500D amps due into port around the 18th... I know quite a few folks are waiting on them as this production run has taken an unusually long time to be completed. I do not expect them to last long so if your "older" amp needs a mate this would be the time to get one :)

do you have a size comparison between the 125.4 and the 150.2 ?
