So, I am finally starting a build in my 2009 Hyundai Elantra SE. I have a timeline of hopefully having everything done by the end of next month with the help of Nateberrier.

Here is the equipment list for the build:
Head Unit: Alpine 9886 w/ Imprint
Tweeters: Oz Matrix Elite ME 25T
Mids: Hybrid Audio L6
Sub: Mb Quart Rwe-304
Tweeter Amp: Sony Mobile ES Xm-3546
Mids Amp: Sony Mobile ES Xm-5046
Sub Amp: Sony Mobile ES 2100G
Rear Battery: Stinger Spv-70.
All wire is Stinger.
Custom Distroblock made by Project DB.

This build will be going for sq in the stock category. I will have most everything hidden by a false floor. I will continue to update this whenever I am able to work on the car.

To get things started, I deadened the trunk a couple of days ago using 2 rolls of Audiotechnix 60 mil. deadener, here are the pictures of that.

Never heard of them, are they some super rare old skool amp that was made in a legit build house and then rebranded?

No, they are legit amps made in Sony's build house when they were quality. Mobile ES amps out of every other amp I have owned, which is quite a few, have been my favorite sounding amps.

Just curious... why did you opt for throwing down gobs of deadener instead of using a full range of deadener, ccf, and mlv? When I heard you went through 4 rolls I figured you were doing an spl install.

I just used 2 rolls in the trunk and I'm using quite a bit on the floor for road noise and such.

Thanks, I'm really having a tough time with my doors now, they came completely sealed off from the factory, and it is going to be a real challenge to get in there and deaden the inside of them. Other than that, I think things are going pretty well.

My 06 Maxima was the same...the doors are completely sealed from the factory. I just ended up putting 2-3 layers of hushmat on the sheet metal directly behind the door panels, along with a deflex pad behind the midbass drivers. I think it deadened the door fairly well without doing the outer skin. But more power to ya if you decide to remove everything to deaden the inside. :)

Yea, I was wondering if you were gonna do that. I was gonna do it myself until I saw how difficult it was... I looked it up online. Apparently you gotta start by removing the locking mechanism thing that holds the door shut? Not sure what to call that, but you need a special tool for it too.
And if you are having trouble removing the center console or something lemme know; it's a simple but very frustrating and tedious process.

It pains me to see what sony is now. Back in the 90's, the es line was top of the line sq stuff. The decks, amps, and some of the speakers from the mobile es line were top tier magazine stuff, when you actually had car audio magazines. People really only know Sony now for the walmart xploid stuff, which is so sad.

Sony car audio is trying to make a comeback. They have dropped the Xplode line and are in the process of trying to come back with some decent gear. I heard this from a few people who were at CES so maybe they will get their heads out of their asses and make something good once again.

And as for Geoff..... lulz

That MB Quart PWE-352 would fit perfect in your spare tire well. Its the same depth as the 12" and max sealed volume is 1.5 cubes! I would be up for a trade too.

Good luck!
