Building a ported box this weekend for the Alpine type-R 15 I will be ordering here pretty soon. Got onto REAudios site and to their box builder thing cuz it seemed simple. But when entering values it halves the volume for no reason...Look at the pic...

Sub facing up? Was thinking aboit doing my box like that but seems like it would perform better facing rear

Those are external dimensions, plus its factoring in port displacement. I've heard that calculator isn't very accurate anyway. Id talk to one of the designers on here and let them guide you in the right direction...

imo just do the calculations yourself, according to re calc I believe it said my box was tuned 1hz lower and was 0.3cf higher than it really was when comparing to my calculations.

for a free visual program it is fairly close. if this is how you need to do it its going to be fine. if you are looking to get every .01 out of your set up you shouldnt need the re calc-

Sub facing up? Was thinking aboit doing my box like that but seems like it would perform better facing rear

Was thinking about doing sub facing up but after looking at it I want it to face the rear. I would lose excursion facing up so not gunna do it. I decided to do one of the boxes up on the stickies, ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/23/3cubes35hz465sqin4wj.png/), itll be tight fitting a 15 with the bevel on that front side but it should fit. Tuned to about 35 Hz as it said, have my high pass at 35 or so and low pass around 100. Think that would have me set up the best from what I have read on here...Gunna kerf the corners on it as well, from that sticky up there it said hard corners arent the best to get all you can out of the subs. So might throw a 5"Diameter kerf on each corner.
