why does 1 need a recone?

and is the z.2 there old model and they replaced them this year with the z.3?

You are correct... And I am thinking the same thing... How could it be working well but could use a recone???

Yes the motors are z .v2 motors with z. v.3 soft parts copper coils. The reason i say you might want to recone the one is because it has a little bit of coil rub, z v.3 copper coils fit tight in the gap. The other one is fine no rub etc.
