it would help to see a pic of the o-scope in question. is there a way to change the range?

You change the Volts/div setting, increase it to 10V/div

http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Tools/dsomanual.pdf

They hide information on changing settings in manuals. :)

Note you need a 10:1 prove for larger scales.

In that pic it is set for 1V/div

That means every horizontal line is 1 V.

yep. i also found another setting that says output 1000hz and goes up/down.. should i leave it there/

That setting could be sampling rate, could be trigger, could be signal generation, I cannot say with it out of context.

According to the manual (not real clear) it can output a square wave between 10 hz and 1 mhz. Doesn't say what voltage.

square waves are useful when testing circuits - you can see slew rate with a square wave. it's not for speaker testing, obviously. :)

I might be interested in picking one of these up too depending on price. Let me know if still available and want to sell.

I think he said $50-75

If your interested let me know. He has to find the cables for it. He used it only a few times. Because then we were digging through my dads tools. and found out he had a large hand held o-scope.
