Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I wanted to get some help with choosing speakers, I have a 96 corolla with stock 4" speakers. I have a bazooka 6" amplified bass tube and an alpine cda 105 deck. I need help choosing a good 4" speaker with a mounting depth no more than 2". I know they are small speakers but it's what my car has allowed me. Its hard to go to shops because 4" speakers are never on the sound display to audition, so using my ears is not an option. That's why I'm here for help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

it would be better to go componets then with a seperate 4" mid and tweeter to get your best sound in such a limited space

That would be ideal but it's a 96 corolla. I'd rather not customize it. Any suggestions on a coaxial?

No personal experience but aura makes very nice stuff and those prices are amazing. I have an Aura amp that's very nice.

They look good and the price is even better. Do you think they could perhaps stack up against Boston or alpine. I've just never heard of this brand. But for that price it doesn't hurt to try.

I'm a big Boston fan and doubt u can go wrong either way for the price....but I think I'd go Aura on this one.

That's very true. So some baffles, bass blockers and a pair of aura speakers. Thanks guys

Depends on ur HU, bass blockers may be unnecessary.

If u get the baffles cut the a$$ out of em so the speaker's backwave goes into the door

Im thinking that Alpine deck dont have hp crossovers built in... I could be wrong...If it has built in hp crossovers you wont need the bass blockers

I second the recommendation for the Aura 4000RPM - if you want a coaxial.

If it were me, I'd run a pair of these
http://www.parts-express.com/images/item_standard/295-378_s.jpg
Dayton Audio RS100-4 4" Reference Full-Range Driver 4 Ohm 295-378 (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-378)

I am using those 4" now and they sound good, play down to 100Hz with ease, and are well built. The response rolls off if you are off-axis - so their aiming is important. But even fully off-axis (in the kicks) they extend above 3kHz, so adding a tweeter solves that issue. I will move them on-axis next.

these tweeters could work with the Dayton 4's

Pioneer TS-T15 3/4" Soft Dome Tweeter Pair 267-288 (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=267-288)
and you get mounting hardware. I've used tweeters like this in the past, they are worth the money.

I searched your radio I thought it was a lower end model but I see it has built in HP filter so you won't need the bass blockers...just speakers and baffles

If u did go this route these are some other drivers to look into Tang Band W4-1320SJ 4" Bamboo Cone Driver 264-847 (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-847)

I LOVE mine! Still got em just not in my car ATM

I hear those Daytons are amazing too

Those are too deep - he needs 2" and they are 2-5/8". The Daytons are 2-1/16" - so with the baffles you are there.

The Aura's will be better than Alpine SPS and entry Boston.
The Dayton/Pioneer option will be better than the Aura's and give you aiming options for the tweeters along with better midbass response.

But the Dayton's will be difficult to properly mount - they use a 6-hole pattern so you're gonna need something rigid to screw them to, then secure the baffle to the car. with the Aura's you are more likely to be able to use factory mounting holes. But good sound usually means custom. your call.

Good choice! My first build was a 94 corolla and I ran entry clarion coaxial for all the speakers. If I could do it again I'd get the ones you just bought.
PLEASE START A BUILD LOG!

Received them last week and the build quality is surprising. I will be installing them this week and will share the sound review for you. At first I was skeptical because I was not familiar with the brand, and the price was the same as Pyle etc. Im very curious as to how these will compare in sound to alpine and Boston.
