Ok I need help with the box design for my friends truck. The woofer is my old rockford p3 12". the woofer is going to be centered in the middle of the box, on the wedge side. It will be touching the back wall of the box. so there isnt any room to make a square port. So ive decided to use flared ports. But I have never done a flared port box. Anythings I should know? I've attached the box in sketchup. The measurements aren't exact, the measurements I used on that are actually the inside measurements of the box. So they need a 3/4" added to each piece. So the box is roughly 2.06 cubes, how much port area do I need of flared port for 38 hz?

Heres a google sketchup of the outline of the box: Box outline1.skp 2shared - download (http://www.2shared.com/file/tT_rT5lB/Box_outline1.html)

Using flared ports can reduce port noise induced by turbulence. But the thing to note, since you asked, is that, depending on the size of the flare, your tuning will vary. A larger flare may increase tuning more so than a smaller one. Hope that helps a bit. As far as port area, that should be based on the subs recommendations involving power constraints and such, but also with tuning as mentioned. I could take a look at what area would work best but I'm at work right now. Just pm me and I'll try to get back to you on that by the end of the week.
