As someone who just purchased a 2012 WRX, I must say that is pretty impressive with the power! My wife just rolled her eyes when I started talking about the Tomioka Racing twin-scroll turbo kit that would be a perfect first mod. :D

Getting to this level involved a ton of mods which was cheap :( .. however on a stock motor you can easily be at 400whp and concentrate on some good suspension work for a fun DD :)

They put bus lengths on 300+hp busas on the highway from 60-200. They haven't even pulled the fastest one out of the trailer yet either. They have been racing the 1400-1500hp ones lately and they have a 1900hp car that is waiting for competition. LMR supposedly has a 2khp vette to play with and some other companies like Titan are REALLY beefing up their top cars to play. I'll be at TX2K12 where most of these guys will be as well so i'll see them all there.

Wow nice setup.

Good luck hitting over 200 though. Need some nice gear ratio changes + higher rev's.

Also subarus are about as aerodynamic as a brick.

Sorry.. Reading > You.

475whp on 25psi.. still have yet to push it to 35-40psi. Should be in the 600whp range. Numbers are on the heart breaker dyno as well

Math with my tires and final drive is 213mph.

Aerodynamics..
Coefficient of drag: 0.29 (same as a C5 Corvette z06 for comparison.)

Not the brick you think

Yea? Are you also starting with 2.5l displacement and making a reliable daily? Anyone can take 5k and make a 500whp car.. nothing a standard lt1 block and a 250 shot of NOS can't put down but it won't live forever

Did you put larger tires on?
I didnt think legacy's were that sleek.

Tires are barely larger than stock.. This car is a 5EAT.. just has some long gears.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Ratio 3.540 2.264 1.471 1.000 0.834
3.270 Final Drive Ratio

I know it has a 5eat. i have a 4eat.
I didnt think even with those ratios it would top out over 160-ish.

are many of the subi guys trying to pull the front drivetrain shafts out? it would make for less parasitic loss on the motor.

I've considered it but the rear diff would grenade for sure. Although it would be easily replaced without having to match gear sets

Nice.

That car is retarded loud though.

Is it really that loud or is it just because it is in the garage?

since you subi peeps are here, on a sidenote, is it cheaper to make a wrx with mods faster and handle better than a sti or just buy the sti? price comparisons?

sti has superior drivetrain.. i would start with the sti platform unless you feel like upgrading a trans once you start putting down decent power. Basic wrx i'd stick with less than 400whp .. anything over an your starting to push the limits

With the price of sti's coming down so much (can get a 04 sti for ~15-16k) you are better off just buying a sti.
Unless you get a wrx for 3-4k and then blow the rest on transmission and engine swap.
