I want a ported sub box for my 12" sub Fi Q. I have it in sealed right now but I heard it can get up to 2x as loud from a ported enclosure and well the sealed sounds great, I sometimes crave more bass. Right now I don't have the tools to build a box (i'm at college) and I don't want to mess up the ported enclosure anyways since it's a bit more tricky than a sealed one. So I'm sure you guys must know people that will do it for pretty cheap. Any recc's on who to contact and maybe approximate prices for said person as well?

I can quote you for one just so you have some comparison to go by. Just visit GET A BUILD QUOTE - Mobile Enclosures - Custom subwoofer boxes (http://mobileenclosures.jimdo.com/get-a-build-quote/) to fill the information out. You can check out the store as well for one, if I have one on there for that sub yet. If not, I can make a conventional style one as small as possible to bring build and shipping costs down.

There are several of us on here who can build/ship you an enclosure.

I dont think its the price of the box itself that will be the problem, its more the shipping that's going to hurt you. Probably best to find a builder as close to you as possible to get the lowest price on shipping.

Also try to get a birch box done so shipping doesn't murder you. I will recommend Dbeez on here if he is available. He makes birch boxes for a good price and lives in Kentucky so shipping wouldn't kill you. I have gotten 2 boxes made from him and not been disappointed.

Shipping is not based on weight. It is based on the size of the item as almost all enclosure are "over sized".

However, another option is always a DIY kit.

Never knew that well birch is still nice to have if you are trying to keep the weight down on the setup.

How much would shipping on a ported box for a 12" cost approximately (based on an average size box)? I live in Indiana btw if that's relevant.

Depends on the size of the box and where it's being shipped from.

Ya I understand, but for everyone that ships boxes quite often in here, I'm just wondering if I can get a rough range of what I might be looking at so I have an idea of whether or not it would be worth it for me. I don't know if we're talking $25 shipping here or like $75.

Depending on how large the box for that 12 is from dbeez if he can make you one, from his location would probably be $20-25

Ill tell you i paid $250 for my box for my single 15, that was 34" wide, 17" tall, 17" depth that was shipped from 1 state away.

Im sure a little less than half of it was just from shipping costs.

My shipping for a box nearly identical to that from him was 40 bucks and again the one I have now was 40 bucks and he is one state away. IDK who shipped yours but that was over priced shipping.

I use birch for strength weight and its **** as hell when built right. Not sure how pro rabbits shipping is but weight dose matter on mine when getting a quote not every pound counts but a 10-15 lb difference will change the quote.

I'd get Mobile Enclosures to design it, and a local shop to build it. If you are handy you could probably build it yourself.
