This is a Velleman K8077 Subwoofer kit. It came with all the amplifier components (soldered by myself) as well as the drivers and enclosure plans. Threw the enclosure together today with 1/2" Birch. (It's only 100w so 3/4" was really not necessary)

Snapped off the dang handle on one of my BRAND NEW harbor freight clamps...but I took it apart and figured out that it's because the handle hinges on two small little plastic nubs (or it did). I drilled out the plastic and put a bolt through, viola, better than new.

The drivers are just some generic looking 6.5" "subs"

Wow looks great. How do the drivers look? Also, about how much did this whole kit run you? It looks like a great project.

Link to this kit pls?

Also nice work on the box. I wouldn't mind trying to solder a board myself.

Here's the kit on Velleman's site: Velleman, Inc. (http://www.vellemanusa.com/products/view/?id=523187)

Then this is the cheapest site I found it on: QKits Electronic Kits: K8077, Sub Woofer Kit 100 Watts (http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/K8077)

Couple pics of the amp and the massive transformer mounted to the included back plate. For some reason the print on the plate is worn off on the Velleman logo (it came that way) but that doesn't really bother me...

The staining turned out ok...it was my first time staining anything and I learned that any flaws in the wood become very noticeable after staining. Probably should have spent more time sanding by hand but I'm satisfied with it. It sounds alright, not window shaking bass by any means but there's a noticeable difference, it fills the low end in a bit better.

Probably needs a bigger port, throw a 4" in there and see how it sounds

It's a pair of 6.5's in about .65cubes with 100w...that 2" port is more than enough...

Edit: Besides, those towers each have a 10" Dayton sub in the bottom...this was more just for fun, I didn't really need the extra bass :)

From the specs page:

power output: 100Wrms/ 4ohm (10% THD)

:crap:

Still a fun looking project!

I know right? I saw that 10% THD and was like WTF?! lol. I assume it has something to do with the amplifier being built by the end user (me)

But I played with the settings on my Onkyo receiver and one of them changed it so multiple channels feed their bass signals all into the sub output (instead of just one) and now it's quite a bit louder. Loud enough to **** my neighbors off I'm sure (I live in an apartment)
