Scenerio. Bass is covered no problem, putting decent 6.5 in rear deck for a little rear fill and the passengers, 5.25 will easily fit in the front door were 6.5 will need bracktes and might be to deep.

Would you spend the extra time and money with 6.5 comps or do the more simple 5.25 comps in the front doors.

Are you looking for a lot of midbass? The only advantage going with 6.5 is midbass.

I would like to have more midbass but right now I just have some 5x7 alpine type-s running off of my hu and it actually is not that bad.
How much more mid bass would a 6.5 give over 5.25s.

If done right it will be noticeable. My suggestion would go ahead and get the 6.5's and make custom mounts. You will be happier in the long run.

If i was looking to spend about 140 on the comps what would be a good set to go with. They can't be more than like 3" deep or it won't fit in my door. with mount might be able to goo about 3 1/2". I don't like realy harsh tweeters. Hoping for silk. Do the type-rs have good midbass.

6.5's will give you a increase in midbass and lower midrange responce. Surface are is what you want when producing low frequences and the 6.5 has much more surface area.

There's also a power handling difference - 5.25's don't get all that loud unless you hipass them up a bit. Some 6.5's can handle a ton of power.

But 5.25's tend to be sweeter in the midrange. The clarity on my little Kicker Resolutions is amazing.
