Our take on the Kenwood KDC-MP225
Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

You've spent a lot of time organizing your music collection on your computer. As long as you're shopping for a new car receiver, why not get one with the ability to play MP3 and WMA discs in the car? The KDC-MP225 spins them with no problem, and, at up to ten hours of tunes per disc, you can store a library of music in your visor, console, or glovebox.

The internal MOSFET amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) brings out the beast in your music, and Kenwood's System Q Sound Control features a 3-band equalizer and six preset tone curves so you can fine-tune the sound. A set of preamp outputs simplifies adding an amp/sub combo for some added bass.

And, speaking of expanding your system, the KDC-MP225 lets you add multi-disc playback with a Kenwood CD changer, or explore the world of satellite radio with a Kenwood SIRIUS tuner.

SIRIUS offers more than 120 channels of top-notch entertainment for just $12.95 per month. Check out 65 channels of totally commercial-free music, which feature an incredible variety of songs from a wide range of genres. You'll also get news, talk, sports, and entertainment, including round-the-clock traffic/weather updates for major metropolitan areas and broadcasts of NFL, NBA, and NHL games. (Satellite radio service is available only within the lower 48 states not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories.) Subscribers can also take advantage of free online streaming of all SIRIUS music. The KDC-MP225 also accepts XM satellite radio via the XMDirect tuner and adapter.
