Im getting like 12-13mpg in town with a v6 6speed regular ram. Maybe 14-15 on highway, its all stock except for after market rims(20in, deep dish). I was wondering cheaper ways to get better millage besides air intake. If it boosted performance that would be great but not my main concern. Is there any chips that wouldn't void my warranty?

truck and good mileage dont go together. but try to keep your foot out of it when accelerating if you dont already.

clean your injectors, keep your foot off the pedal so much. the intake kit would help out some also

smaller and narrower tires will increse your mpg ...try some 16x6 rims with appropriate tires you should see a 2-3mpg increase....

you basically have a car engine with a heavy truck on it.. step up to a v8 drive it nice, do the typical intake, exhaust and chip it and call it a day

If you are going to own a truck, buy the diesel. I can haul 20,000 lbs and still get 18 mpg.

A "chip" is a waste of time and $$$. It will NOT help with mpg, but actually make it worse.

If you want to do anything electronically, get a good tune.
In all honesty, you would probably get better mpg with the v8. That v6 just has to work way to hard to accomplish what it dose.

But you can do the basics....
CIA kit, exhaust *may* net you a few mpg, maybe.
Keep you tires filled to the higher range that your are still comfortable with and look into getting a good induction and top cyl. cleaning preformed.

I'll take 24+mpg in a 2k lb heavier truck over a v6 one anyday.

I drove an 85 Bronco that had a very nice 430hp 351 crate motor and only a C6 trans(3 speed).
Doing 70 on the hwy, I managed 17mpg. That was riding at 2900 rpm. At 80, it went WAY down hill......3300rpm.........

3 speeds for TMFL.....

ONly about 8-10 in the city though...

my 5.2 will do 20 if there is no wind.
I'm thinking of trading in on a 6.0 that averages 14-17

There's not much cheap things you can do besides changing your driving habits. Limit braking and acceleration, keep a light foot (I try to keep RPMs under 3k). An air intake and better exhaust would help a bit, and proper engine tuning.

As for the open question, take your stereo and your aftermarket bigger wheels off

i put a bed cover on my ranger v6 and i am gettin alot better gas milage! and plus i have a place to put my extra batts and amp! and more room in my cab, i also changed my air filter gained a little with that, added restore engine compression stuff from advance and gained a little from that, also, fuel injector cleaner, that helps out alot. hmm, when i had 20's on my truck i seen an increase of gas milage, but thats because i was getting more rotation at the same rpm. every little improvement adds up, same thing with dbs ;)

You know mythbusters busted that bed cover thing. Just saying. I am sure you could find the show online some place. Even the tailgate thing as well, up or down.
