Thanks guys... And not really looking for any trades right now. I may take like 50 ft. of 0 gauge (also some fuse holders, or batt terminals) or a batt for partial trade...

used to be my amp! hahaha. here is all the info i got about the amp from a guy on diyma as it was a short run company:
ollschool on diyma: "your tuber is the same as Mark antony and the Callcell line. I have info on it but is burried in magizines. It is a good amp. Well worth the asking price." i was asking 275 shipped.

here are some guts of the so called 150watts rms lol.

also it was produced from 95-98. sounds much more natural than a ZED amp imho as well.

Well look no further. Lol. I need this gone. And yes this is a bit under-rated, but using tubes makes it much louder than a regular amp. I would assume it would sound closer to 200 watts per channel compared to a non-tube amp. It really is a masterpiece. I would love to keep it, but money is tight.

Info from the previous owner...
yup yup! also i got info from a fellow on diyma a while back when i had it. it was a short run company. no info on the web as the company died in 98. about 1000 where produced and only a handful exist. last one he saw went on ebay for $480 minus shipping! thd @ 4 ohms is in the ungodly low amount of T.H.D. + Noise: <0.045% @ 4 ohms. close to that of a zapco! it trully does shine! no HPF is used on the amp as frequencies below 87hz are cutoff by the tubes used at a 24db slope when set to High not flat or sub.a HU eq can take care of this anyways. it does have a LPF but is a waste to use it on a sub in all honesty. great amp, it trully is. i almost want it back actually. would make a great piece to stare at lol.

hi, thanks for listing. i have a tube amp for my home stereo i absolutely love and this is intriguing to me as i am in the market for 1 more amp. i have a couple of questions <1> how large is this amp <2>are you recommending this as a sub amp? seems to me the tubes would sound lovely on a front stage and solid state would be better for subs <3> the front stage i am about to buy is a 3 way that handles 160rms do you think this might be too much for them? <4> when was the last time the tubes were replaced?

thanks for any information you are able to provide!

I will get the size for your soon, I may have it somewhere throughout the thread. No, this is gonna be a strong front stage amp, but it should be great on a 3 way that handles 160 rms. The more power, the merrier, when it comes to highs. I am not sure the last time they were replaced, to be honest. I will see if the previous owner knows.

so i just agreed yesterday to purchase 2 amps however, there was another person interested in one of them. perhaps he will buy it from me. the thought of tooooobs in the car is very appealing.

how old is this amp? how does it perform in the cold weather?

that makes me nervous the speakers i have decided on hold 160RMS. they are costing me $850, i dont want to blow 'em.

just some interesting information a member of a recording site i am on and one of the members posted this about the amp:

That's a hybrid amp, the tubes are a preamp stage and the output is transistor. Thus some of the stuff he is saying like:

And yes this is a bit under-rated, but using tubes makes it much louder than a regular amp. I would assume it would sound closer to 200 watts per channel compared to a non-tube amp.

It is commonly stated that tube amps (that is, with a tube power stage) have "louder" watts vs. transistor amps, this is because the tubes will overload more gradually than transistors. So you could be at 0.1% THD with a transistor amp, and 6dB louder will be 20%, whereas the tube might go from 0.1% to 1% in the same transition.

Also, since these are preamp tubes they last much longer than power tubes, so changing them isn't a big imperative.

And this:

it trully does shine! no HPF is used on the amp as frequencies below 87hz are cutoff by the tubes used at a 24db slope when set to High not flat or sub

Tubes aren't HPFs, they can easily have response down to DC. Any HPF would be the circuit design, not the tubes selected.

As for using it with a sub, a power tube output can be accused of having "tubby" lows (which guitarists tend to like), that's a function of several things including the power supply (whether the rectifiers are tube or solid-state), and of course the response of the output transformer.

Preamp tubes again don't have any such issues since their power output is small an they don't have output transformers (I didn't see an interstage transformer in that design). So it should perform like any other similar quality solid-state output.

I doubt you'd find a 2x 160W tube power amp for a car; it would be the equivalent of carrying around two big guitar amp heads in your trunk, each with 6 power tubes and a big honkin' output transformer (bigger than the toroid that is in there), and since their efficiency is typically less than 25% they would tax your car's power system. You'd also need a pretty good-sized inverter/rectifier to generate the 500VDC the power tubes would require . . . maybe a custom job for somebody really crazy . . .

i still want to hear the amp. i have run a tube pre with solid state power at home and liked it. so i still want to check this thing out. i hope it's not a let down.
