i always 10+ yrs ago used partical board for enclosures whats the difference between the 2 beside the price and which is better to use

Mdf is way better. Its a lot stiffer and won't fall apart from using good equipment.

mdf is an acoustically dead material and is a lot stronger.

lutz i've seen partical board enclosures actually blow apart from the pressure. just spend the extra 10 bucks or so on a sheet of mdf. you will be happier

yea... particle board enclosures went out a LONG time ago... just get mdf bro... otherwise you'll spend time and money, only to have it most likely fail.

Birch is accoustically different than MDF, and a properly built MDF box is plenty strong, and real birch (not the cabinet grade at home depot) is expensive as fck.
