Need a decent HU for around $100. Anything better than this? Kenwood KDC-X494 Car CD MP3 Player USB Stereo Receiver | eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Kenwood-KDC-X494-Car-CD-MP3-Player-USB-Stereo-Receiver-/380344717211?pt=Car_Audio_In_Dash_Receivers&hash=item588e4fcf9b)

I'd prefer cd but I'd consider a media unit if the specs/price was right

Judging solely on the specs I saw at SonicElectronix, I'd be willing to bet that you won't be able to find much better for $100.

Three sets of 4V preamps, iPod capable, front USB and aux, 22W RMS, and it looks pretty good. I don't know if most other headunits now have 24bit DACs, but this one does. It looks to be great for the price.

Looks decent. But i go for functionality over looks IMO...Not just with radios but a lot of other things.

The JVC looks to be more suited for a higher classed SQ setup. For the average guy looking for a nice system that sounds good, the Kenwood would be fine. You could always buy an equalizer if you wanted something better.

Then again, with the JVC, you could always buy some sort of driver to up the voltage, and it would most likely come with other nice features.

I would go with Kenwood over JVC to get the best sounding head unit for such a tight budget. I have not been impressed with the sound quality of JVC, even with the top-of-the line Arsenal KD-A815. They do look decent and people like the color customizations.

i'd personally take a look in the classifieds for a higher end alpine HU. entry level alpine HU's are balls but their upper end stuff is really nice
