Pioneer DEH-6800mp EQ help

I am in need of help with this blasted EQ, I cannot for the life of me understand how to get the mids/highs up and have the bass at a manageable level. I have heard you can somehow hook up an Ipod and control it though the HU. Is this true?

Still trying to get help, The bass doesnt sound very clean like my old sony headunit (USB connection) Does USB provide better sound quality over a 2.5mm jack?
