Is there any reason not to go with them. Seems a set is about 190 which is about what I would like to spend on a set of components. Is there another brand I should consider while I'm at it? Amp is a MRV-F345 and the head unit will be either a DNX-6960 or a INA-900BT probably the latter just to keep it all alpine. Not sure if I'll deaden the doors being the new superduty's panels are well deadened for helping keep out the sound of the diesel. I love my type x sub and am hoping I'll be pleased with the components as well.

I have had older type x sets and listened to the newish type x sets. Very good speakers and the tweeter is what a lot of people love. They do lack in midbass and power handling. To get mine to handle power the xover point was raised pretty high. Very smooth sets, but no midbass in my opinion

That's not a big deal the sub can make the bass I need.

their not talking bass... mid bass... without it, you just have lows and highs... no mix in between... you could use a set of 8's glassed into the door to cover the mids... trust me... once you get good mids thrown into the mix, you'll wonder how you ever liked car audio without it

For some reason I read bass. I'm not that concerned with it. Vehicle is too loud to properly hear the stereo anyhow. After research I'm gonna run some DD components and they are much cheaper.

AFAIK la_crx has a pair for sale at a great price.

i haven't had any personal experience with the type x speakers, but a lot of what has to do with mid bass reproduction is deadening your doors so it becomes a more proper enclosure

My vehicle has a lot of factory deadening since its a diesel. But its also TT with 4" straight back so the stereo doesn't have to be anything extreme since all I can hear is whistling.

Terrible video and absolutely no traction and seems i was too far down the street during filming to hear the hear the tires blowing off the rims. First cloud of smoke was no traction, had to let off and roll back into it for slightly more traction, but not alot.
Truck makes in the 600rwhp/1200rwtq neighborhood.

Get a set of Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagines. Right in your price range and will have the midbass you need, and the sound you want.

Also why is your diesel smokin so much.....that is just wasted fuel. Tune it right and you won't get that, but you will get more power.

Not on a 6.4. They smoke like a train no matter what you do, especially with Eric's custom tunes(my street tune doesnt smoke nearly as much but also makes 100rwhp less). I know banks spouts no smoke blah blah blah. But its bullshit, the trucks that put down big numbers and fast times will always smoke like a chimney.

Ya need a Dodge then. Yes people putting up 700+ hp will smoke...but necessarily black out intersections. Armor Inc has a dodge in the 600+ range and his is clean.

I am going to wait for efi live to come online for Dodge before I start into mine.

Cummins has been the most reliable diesel engine on the market for the last 20 years.

I love the engine but hate the trucks they are in... and thats cuz they have been pretty much the only diesel in a mid size truck for the last 20 years hahaha

Are you forgetting the 7.3's, the 6.2's and the 6.5's for Ford and Chev?

I have always said the best truck in the world would be a ford frame/suspension/steering, dodge powertrain, and chev body/interior.

Bettr n' Revrse
04-16-2011, 12:11 AM
Ya but all of those where just as reliable... I know of two 6.5's that have well over 500,000 on them...

Not the dodge trannies thou lol... I will stick with my Duramaxs

None of the stock trannies are worth a shat. Dodge is just the worst of em stock. Best of them built.

Thats until the interior starts to fall apart. Love chev's but hate the fact that when they reach 100k its like the whole interior just goes to hell.

I have an 07 mega with a 5.9 auto.

Plans - Goerend full billit trans, efi live, modded dragon slayer cp3, 200 hp sticks, 66mm single, spearco or bd intercooler, airdog II 165, and lots of filtrations, bypass units.

Then there's the stereo......work in progress.

I don't need a cummins. The cummins has yet to out HP and TQ a tuner and exhaust only 6.4. Ill save the live tune for the new turbos and nitrous.

BTW sorry about the groan. The droids screen wasn't zoomed and I hit it accidentally.

My dads first 7.3l shop truck had close to a million miles on it before we sent it to the crusher.

Not the 5R110. They easily hold up to 750rwhp/1400rwtq

+1 For some reason one of our shop trucks is a chevy 1500 and that thing is a huge POS. I cant wait till its sent out to pasture and i can take the LQ for the stang. But for some reason we keep fixing it.

Why wouldnt it be? Ford finally pulled their heads out of their asses and put a good engine in their trucks. Unfortunately they keep ******* around with that DOHC ****.

Yes. My buddy is the owner of stroked lightning so we are close to all of the fast diesels on the west coast, when i get my LSD fixed and my dually rims i'm confident i'll be in the 12.30-12.40 range. Last time out my truck ran a 15 at 105mph :(
With a bullshit 4.06 60'. MPH is easily good for low 12's. Next up is the Elite Diesel turbo kit, head studs, waste gate, spearco aftercooler and the giggle gas.

Ive not gone too far yet. I called DD and spoke with Kevin for about 20min and the price of $120 a set isnt too shabby either. I would go active but i dont have the amp for it.

I just got a set of DD components and I love em so far. They are replacing a set of JL Audio Evolution C2 comps and are much better esp the tweeters. I heard the High end DD comps are much better than my set though. The German ones, DDA-65 I think and DDT-28 tweeters.
