After bringing my car to the shop to change the oxygen sensor (which the didnt end up fixing), i went to fill up my washer fluid and noticed this.

The car is a 97 vw golf. What is covered in tape....

maybe they used it to mark where the hose went when they removed it ??? tape to protect glue so it can dry ?

Looks like it's an exhaust gas return line. I can't tell though....does it hook back into the intake?

If it's an EGR line than that tape is probably gonna be plenty. Still shady though >.>

follow the pipe down and tell us what it connects to. could be an egr, pcv, and i've even seen a "blow-off" valve that looked like that on factory turbo setups a few years older. it's not turbo, is it? i would think that is the air cleaner box, but also could be a big maf unit, lol.

That is mostly a part of the PCV or other assorted emissions systems.

My god, Its part of the PCV system. If you follow the line up to that round thing thats the PCV. Sits on top of the valve cover. They all crack right were that tape is.

Both my Saab and Audi had leaky PCV systems in some way or another. Both cars also blew their turbo's. Hmmmmm.....

Could just call them and be like, what is this?

A redneck would have used duct tape. If you can't duct it, **** it.
