replacing door locks on a vehicle

My drivers side door lock isnt working very well and I am having trouble finding a new one, I realize I will likely have to change the ignition and **** as well. Has anyone else done this before?

Do you know what the problem is? Like the lock actuator or something else? That could be a relatively simple fix... I've added power locks to two old cars and the solenoids can sometimes be finicky although I would assume your situation is different.
