lol..It was a good suggestion. Must've missed that one in my searching. And the only reason i said that is cause whenever i ask to pick one or the other everybody suggests comps that are way over my budget.

I do like the ppi's..I have heard the mb's tweet is quit bright though..But now that the other guy brought up the pg's those are a close second.

I'm not suggesting, but I'm ordering you to check out the Cadence ZRS-65ks on ebay!

I don't think those are mid grade? I've heard those Hifonics, run the PPI 356cs right now, owned the real Quarts, owned 2 sets of RSD's, and ran the Soundstream Tarantula comps. I was not in love with the Pg, SS, or the Hifonics. I think the Cadence are the best for the price you want to spend. I'd take a chance on the ZRS. You can't always depend on this forum, only your ears. I did like my Pg Xenon comps, but they were better than the Rsd's imo. Good Luck?

The Crescendo CCX65s are in your price range. I was debating between them and the PGs, and went with the CCX65s. Got them B stock straight from Crescendo for $70 shipped. Should be here tomorrow :)

If you can wait a few weeks they have a new revised version coming out with some small fixes.

Just pointing this out, but the PG tweets are quite bright as well.

ive read good things bout the pg rsd set, but ive seen them klippel tested and i sure wouldnt buy them. granted for the $, maybe u cant expect better, maybe they are the best for that price range.

out of the ones listed, i would do ppi or soundstream. ive seen good things about ppi, but ive always wanted to try soundstream, love the spider look

Hifonics all the way. Those are the beefiest and I've heard the coaxial versions and they sounded fairly neutral. Plus they light up! o0o0o0!

PPI.....the crossovers are nicely made too. Not overly bright, fairly flat. Decent power. Best of the bunch I'd say.

And how do you know those PPI are not made by Power Acoustik? OP, please don't expect to be impressed with any of them. I've heard all your choices except the Ppi.

I thought they were ok. Definitely not the worst Ive ever had. My SC6500's though smash the PG's and I paid $20 more for 2 sets of the SC6500's than I did for 1 set of the PG RSD's.

At that price i'm not..I was able to find the ppi's(2 sets) and a new pioneer 3200dvd for 370 shipped..$40 bucks cheaper then what i found on ebay for those 3 things. The free shipping and $20 off code i found helped.

They probably are, doesn't mean they're bad. PA is not a good brand, but they all fall under the Epsilon umbrella and it seems like they're taking a step into the "high-end" car audio scene with SS and PPI

Some guy that sells them said they are PA. They are not going high end. They will only make the Ppi name worse. I know the OP is not listening to me, but thinks he is buying real Ppi components. The real Ppi would never sell them that cheap. He will understand when he has more money to upgrade. I still say Cadence ZRS comps will beat everything he's looking at.

I'm listening and agree that there prob not true ppi..this set compared to what else the sell doesnt match up..I'm still considering the Cadences..I have the next month and a half to make a decision.

yup, im gonna pretend that i didnt read the part about not suggesting different components. but for about $180 you can get a set of zapco iForce component speakers. the mounting depth is fairly deep so you might have to build out your mounting baffle with some rings. but for the price, everybody that i know that bought a pair love them.

just got the mb court discus 5.25" components today. They are a lot beefier than i thought. Only rated at 35 rms though. Paid $65 shipped. dsh-213 , the 6.5" is dsh-216. i hooked them up to my home theater system to test them, very loud and clear. will have them installed in a week.
