my box when i put in in a part of my trunk is lopsided and top heavy. what are some good ideas to hold it in place? i thought about using phone books and then using velcro tie downs.

Depending on your situation, You can make a "skirt" if you will, around the bottom edge of the box out of 2x4s or 2x6s, making a wider base. It will still slide around but will not tip over as easily. Or if your ride is especially ghetto, push the box as close to the wall as possible, and shoot some great stuff around it in the proper position, and it will stick to the wall after it dries.
