never had a comp set until now...even then it's not qualified as a comp set that you're thinking of

Yes, those.

I'm not trying to be a downer but what is so good about them? They don't look impressive at all.

looks aren't everything. If looks matter, then Audiobahn would've never gone out of business

the rsd mids have very impressive midbass, that's the best thing about the set

I did some searching and was wondering if it would be better and cheaper for him to just buy two of these and some **** mids? I'm assuming you would need a crossover of some kind?

if you could find them, Crystal SSCS6 component system.

110 RMS at 3Khz and above is awesome. Only problem is 8 ohm.... Assuming he got a mid that handles 100 RMS at 100hz and above he would need a beefy 4 channel and big crossovers to handle 200 watts RMS. 100hz to 3Khz for the mids, 3Khz to 22Khz for the super tweeter. How would that be possible to wire? He would need 8 ohm mids correct?

Audiobahn never looked good. Always looked terrible.

that's impossible, though their tweets are really nice

maybe to you, but not to all. I never liked them though

These things look almost too good to be true. Rated at 110w RMS crossed from 3khz and up??? 107 DB sensitivity? For 20 bucks? :wow:

Do these tweeters come with crossovers? I would almost have to buy a strong 2 channel to run them at 100 RMS each at 8 ohm. Maybe I could wire them together for a 4 ohm load?

holy mounting depth on those tweets. And i don't think they come with xovers

Maybe the x-over is built in?

The tweeters cause me great confusion because of their 8 ohm impedance. I'm not very familiar with crossovers and I'm unsure if I could use a 4 ohm crossover with these. Could I wire the two tweeters like this assuming I had a crossover that could handle 200 watts RMS?

Or would it be better to buy something like this?

you can wire them to 4ohm, but you'd have to be running them off the same xover. You can go with that passive xover, but then you would need passives for the mids also. Tbh, just get a small format 4ohm tweets and run that. I have some cheap vifas tweets in my car right now and they get loud. Unless you have such a huge substage then I guess get the horns.

I picked up a pair of these Polk DB 6501 (http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-DB6501-6-5-Inch-Component/dp/B000P0R6LQ/ref=pd_ts_e_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics). Working on the install now so I can't say how they sound yet. Betting it's better than stock. Price is now $20 lower than what I paid. Also picked up the DB 651 coax to go with them.

Is it safe to run off the same xover? I'm not going any problems am I? The crossover I would run has a 12DB OCTAVE. Basically I would have to find 8ohm mids if I were to just run 2 crossovers vs 3?

I have this set. think its like 2.5" or so. Ill have to check. But incase anyones wondering, these are some great comps for $100.00. I have this set with 100watts per side. the tweets imo are the best thing about the set. I had the mids crossed @100hz and the midbass wasnt the greatest but the mids were nice and clean and get loud. Then i got to messing around with the settings one day and ran the xover flat on the amp and man, the midbass came alive. I now leave the amps xover setting to full pass and control the sound to the speakers thru my h/u. I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a budget set.
