been a while since Ive looked at head units but I would like to get a DD navi/dvd screen for a clean setup in one of my cars.. Ill probably just have a single 12 with a descent 500 watt amp or so and a nice set of components .. But dont really wanna spend a ton of $ on one, so are there any nice ones for under 800?

Im partial to eclipse and Pioneer, but whatever is good lemme know

I'm a fan of the Alpine IVA-W505, but the nav unit costs extra. The deck and nav add-on will set you back around $840...

hmm not bad.. i really want an eclipse, but there right around 1100 i believe.. All the NAVIs now days are ALL pretty descent as far as GPS and accuracy, speed and POI , so basically just something with a nice screen, and ipod Iphone full displays etc etc

Crutchfield has the Alpine IVA-W203 on closeout for $449 ($350 off).

Alpine iVA-W203 DVD receiver at Crutchfield Signature (http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_500IVAW203/Alpine-iVA-W203.html?tp=5684)

It also needs the NVE-P1 navigation unit, but I've seen those go fairly cheap on ebay.

not bad man , thanks for the heads up.. the only thing I noticed about the add on navi unit on the alpines, is that there are only 1.3 million POI, while eclipse, pioneer, kenwood are 6 million + .. But still a good deal on the unit itself.. Like I said tho, I want alot of Iphone capabilities , cuz thats where most of my music is gonna come from

I've been a Clarion freak for over 15 years for good reason. This, or the newest version out when I can get one, will more then likely be my next HU sense Eclipse is pulling out of the aftermarket scene.

I run the VRX585USB. It looks really nice, but I wouldn't recommend it...

When it comes to HU's I have 2 requirements,
1) It has to be new
2) It has to be the companies top of the line HU for the given category.

Man im really Eying that clarion NX700 now.. Stopped by the local shop today and they had a NX500 for $749 ,

Whats the difference between the 2, besides the 700 having a full 7" flipdown screen instead of a cd slot up top?

Any Arsenal by JVC is going to be on par with any other company in my opinion. The Arsenal line is right in line with any alpine to me. I have a brand new 2K10 arsenal 815 ready to go in my 76 downstairs. **** has 30 different color combinations for the screen and the left and the right side can be changed to 2 different colors. Ipod intergration is sick as hell. I luv teh JVC'z

I openly admit that I'm a Clarion owner, and even I wouldn't recommend them. Unless they've stepped their game up in a big way within the last two years, they're nothing special.

The only experience I have with JVC Arsenal equipment is a single din cd player that I installed in one of my friend's vehicles. It has a ton of color options and it's a nice unit, but I'm sure it isn't even slightly comparable to their higher end dvd units. Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting some hands on time with one of those Arsenal double din dvd players.

I have extensive hands on time with the Alpine IVA-W505 and can attest to it's badassedness. It looks clean as hell, it has decent eq features and the iPod integration is insane. The price is good too. A year ago the dvd unit alone was selling for nearly $1,000. Unless I'm mistaken, it was Alpine's flagship dvd player until the INA-W900 was released earlier this year.
