The system:
Sub - Audioque SDC2.5 15"
Sub Amp - Audiopipe AP15001D
Front Stage - Polk db651 coaxials
Front Stage Amp - Pioneer GM-3300T
Power Wire: Knu 4ga (subs), Scosche 6ga (front stage)

Well I guess I'll start at the beginning.

About three years ago, I decided to buy these subs:

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3485/oldsubs.jpg

I bought them because I thought they were *****in', and because I didn't know jack about subs. They suited my needs and I loved them, plus Circuit City was selling them for about $200 (which I thought was cheap for subs).

About six months ago, I started actually researching car audio and found out that Xplod's are some of the worst subs you can get http://www.effectica.com/images/smilies/eff_smile/rolleyes.gif. So, I sold them, and my amp, and started looking for a new system.

I spent about three months researching different brands and learning what makes subs good/bad, etc. I decided on an Audioque SDC2.5 series. I wanted a huge sub (compared to my old Xplods), so I decided on a 15".

Since I'm not working my seasonal job anymore, this sub was perfect because it was on sale for $160. I purchased it in December and had it sitting around in my room until March, when I finally spent some of my savings and bought a new amplifier to power it.

Well enough of the talking. Onto the pictures!

Some pictures of the sub:

Got the wood cut for the box:

Gluing the box together, ghetto style (no clamps):

I didn't get any pictures of me painting the box, but here are the finished install pictures:

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/373/hpim1865.jpg

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's the little Audiopipe amp that I bought. This thing's a beast for how small it is:

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7793/hpim1862s.jpg

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/617/hpim1861.jpg

I got lazy and didn't hide the RCA's http://www.effectica.com/images/smilies/eff_smile/biggrin.gif:D

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Excuse the dust inside of the box and on the amp http://www.effectica.com/images/smilies/eff_smile/biggrin.gif:D

I'm completely satisfied with this setup. $160 for the sub, $160 for the amp, hurts my ears!

Critique & comments welcome!http://www.effectica.com/images/smilies/eff_smile/cool.gif

Mind if i ask why just 1 15" with all that room, do you just want some nice bump. I can see 4 18"s in that thing lol.

box looks good.. not a fan of audio pipe... but AQ is a good sub and looks like you did your research and box looks good.. did you router the port on inside?

Mostly money issues. I wanted some bump without breaking the bank. I know that i could fit tons of sh*t in there, but I don't have the money lol :D Plus more subs means more amps, means electrical upgrades which also costs more.

@outside - No, I just left the port square, not rounded off. I don't have access to a router. I cut the sub cutout pretty **** good though, you can't even tell it was jigsaw'd

Thanks for all the comments!

I want to get it metered sometime, I'm wondering what it does too. It seems pretty loud to me

Going to HD today to get some expanding foam to help stop the rattles in my rear hatch, will have pics later

click the button :fyi:

but yeah expanding foam will help just make sure you get the kind that only expands a little bit and not alot. don't want your body panels getting pushed out. that will look real ******.

Yeah I already asked about the foam in the thunderdome and people told me to get the Windows kind so it doesn't bow the panels :D

when you don't have clamps they make it a HELL of a lot easier though. But nice use of the plates...

Nice box for that sub...

Looking great man! Maybe its just the two smaller boxes on both sides, but I really dig the look of the xplods haha. I dunno why, just looks clean?

Nice box for that sub...

This is my first time working with MDF, so I didn't want to screw something up with the predrilled holes. The plates worked fine and the box is 100% sturdy and straight so yeah haha

@ scottyk - Yeah, even though they're xplod's, I still liked how they looked

Also, pics of the foam & vids will be up tomorrow probably. That foam was messy as ish and I went to a dance while it was curing :D

Ghetto clamps ftw. That's how I roll too. I do use screws when it needs to be "clamped" in 2 directions at once though.

Nice build. I love the fact that you had the stones to put up the XPlodes in the "before" pic. Lol.

AQ's are friggin ****.

Nice little system. Cosmetically solid. Looks well done. No complaints on the gear. AQ and AP both make a sturdy budget line-up.

Props.

Well i didn't get any pics of the actual foaming process since it was such an f'ing mess, but got the panel shots lol:

And panel back on lol

And here's a vid I shot today, after driving like 50 miles to find a spot with no people. Even the shooting range had cops :( and it was sunday lol. My camera ***** for picking up the sub movements and the panels vibrating. Just imagine everything moving 2 or 3 times what it looks like lol
