heya,

So I'm working on building my first box... It's for a single jl10w0. JL recommends 0.75cubic at 125rms. I'll be feeding it 150rms, so as I understand it, I can make the box a bit smaller (say around 0.7)? Now, does it matter how I design the outter dimensions as long as the internal volume is the same? ie: Will a 0.75 box be the same regardless of how the outer dimensions are built?

What's the best way to seal the edges of the box? I was planning to use wood glue and screws to hold it in place and then maybe some silicon caulk along the inside seams. Will that work ok?

Also, is there any way I can mount the box in my car wihtout having to drill through anything? any sort of velcro setup or something?

its good as long as the inside is .75.
the .75 probably means after the drtiver is in teh box so you have to find out the driver displacment and make the box big enough so thaqt after the displacment the box will be .75.
your idea of screws,wood glue and silicone sounds good.
and i have herd of people using velcrow but i havent trynd it personaly.

yea, I'm just gonna use a 12x12x14 which is still .75 cubic, but I wanted to make sure that wouldn't cause a problem.

as for sealing, should I put some sort of weather stripping or something along the circle cutout where the sub will go? and I guess maybe some along the cutout where the terminal cup will go? Or will caulk suffice there as well?

yeah people using weather stripping along the cutout to seal better but i wouldnt use silicone just because of mess issues. as for the wire cup when they leak air i silicone them up from teh inside of the box wile they are screwed in.

dont use woood glue!

actually you can if you want, but it is a PAIN in the ***. liquid nails is a hundred times better. easier to apply, dries faster, bonds better.

just my (VERY ENTHUSIASTIC) opinion.
i havent tried liquid nails but by the sounds of it it will also work and probably better,since the info is coming from somone who has used both.
