Are you guys gonna make these NESPL or TNESPL events? It would be much better than independent and you'd get better turnout.

I like the whole exhaust thing, we plan on getting all the hotrodders and muscle cars from Golden days to compete so they dont freak out from our car stereos during the golden cruz that happens the first saterday of every month in summertime.

Thats impressive, I've been trying to hook up with the IRA series for the past two seasons and they would never commit to anything. Making them some TNESPL formatted shows would be pretty sweet. We'll just keep our fingers crossed that they don't conflict with too many of our shows.

The June 19th one will make for a busy day, NESPL will be at the Porter & Chester in Chicopee that day, the May 1st will be great, ACT is doing a TNESPL the day after in CT so thats gonna be a great weekend too.

You guys might want to run your idea of an Exhaust wars format by the event promoters first. keep in mind that these shows are at night, and some of these places will have neighbors willing to call the cops because of it.

2010 OFFICAL RULES AND CLASSIFICATIONS FOR AMPLIFIED IMPRESSIONS SPL COMPETITIONS

Point Scoring:

Amplified Impressions follows a point scoring criteria. A competitor can collect points by simply registering his/her vehicle into the SPL competition. Points are also given for 1st through 3rd place finishes in the competitor’s class. Bonus points are also awarded for perfect attendance for a series of shows; example: If a competitor registers for all 6 of the IRA shows, that competitor will receive 60 bonus points. The competitor with the most points at the end of the series will be awarded our Best of Series Trophy. AI’s point scoring break down per class is as follows:

• 1st Place: 50 points
• 2nd Place: 30 points
• 3rd Place: 15 points
• Registration per event: 5 points
• Perfect attendance: 60 points

Rules and Classification Overview:

Classes Sub (inch2) RMS power Amps Max Voltage Battery Volume Alternators
Novice 1 Unlimited 1000 W 2 14.9 V 1,400 inch3 1 Stock Alternator
Novice 2 1-280 2000 W 2 14.9 V 1,600 inch3 1 Stock Alternator
Novice 3 281+ 2000 W 2 14.9 V 1,600 inch3 1 Stock Alternator

Competitor 1 1-280 10,000W 4 16 V 3,200 inch3 2 Alternator
Competitor 2 281+ 10,000W 4 16 V 3,200 inch3 2 Alternator

Pro Competitor Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited 18.5 V Unlimited Unlimited
Table 1.1 - Rules and Classification Quick Reference Chart
Equipment:

At all SPL events Amplified Impressions uses only Term-lab High Precision SPL Meters and Term-Lab computer software to analyze your vehicles sound pressure level and frequency response. This guarantees a highly accurate numeric measurement inside your vehicle with a repeatability of nearly 100%. So you can trust that all of the competitor’s vehicles are measured and judged with high precision accuracy.

Judging:

Any and all disputes will be decided by AI’s Head Judge. Ultimately all rules are contingent to the head judges’ interpretation of those rules, all decisions are finial.
At registration or prior to competing, the competitors vehicle will be inspected by one of AI’s members in order to verify equipment used and proper class. It would be helpful to have the manual of the amplifier to validate its RMS power. If the power can not be determined in writing the amps power output may be measured or the head judge will make a call determining the competitors’ class.
Cheating is seriously frowned upon by AI. If at any time a competitor feels that another competitor is cheating, they can order there car to be closely inspected by the head judge. If the head judge determines that the competitor was cheating, that competitor will be disqualified from that event. But if it was determined that the competitor was in compliance with the rules, the complaint issuer will be fined $10.00 for making false accusations. If false accusations continue during that event or at another event; that competitor will be disqualified. If the fine isn’t paid, that competitor will be disqualified and banned from all AI SPL and non-SPL events.

Rules and Classification:

• General Rules:

o All competitors must sign a waver, stating that AI and its affiliates can not be responsible for any accident, damages, injuries, or death that occurs at an Amplified Impressions SPL event. By participating in an AI’s SPL event the competitor agrees to take full responsibility for his or her actions and any accidents, damages, injuries, or death that may occur.

o AI requires that all competitors operate there vehicles and sound systems in accordance to local laws.

o All competitors are required to wear ear protection. Ear protection will be provided to all competitors at registration.

o All competitors with a 160 dB vehicle or higher must not be inside the vehicle during the run. They must use either a podium or a remote to operate there sound system from outside the vehicle.

o Music, sweeps, test tones and any type of recorded audio signal is allowed in all classes.

o Tone generators, frequency multipliers, ect.. Not allowed. The audio signal must come from typical mobile car audio source, CD player, MP3 player, Playstation, ect…

o All competitors will receive one 30 second run to achieve their highest sound pressure level reading.

o For an additional fee, all competitors have the option to re-run for an additional 30 seconds, to hopefully increase their SPL reading.

o There may only be one person in the vehicle during the run.

o All doors must be shut and windows rolled up during the run.

o I-Pods are allowed and encouraged, they won’t skip!

o No restrictions on persons applying pressure, or holding the vehicle shut.

o Strapping or clamping the doors shut is prohibited in all classes.

o All speaker’s 10 inches and above are considered toward the subwoofers cone area calculation.

• Novice 1, 2, and 3:

The Novice classes were created for the SPL beginner. If you have more than one season of SPL competing under your belt you will have to move to the Competitor class. No sponsored competitors in this class.

o All of the classes except Novice 1 have subwoofer limitations. The limitations are based on subwoofer cone area. To help calculate your subwoofer cone area see Table 1.2 - Subwoofer Cone Area Quick Reference chart, under the Reference Material section. If you have square subs your cone area is calculated as follows; Asquare = L x W. Example you have a pair of Kicker Square 12’s, your cone area would equal 288 inch2.

o The RMS power of the amplifier to determine class is the RMS power at the impendence that your amp is wired at. Example, if you have a 500W x 1 @ 4 ohm amp, and you have a 2 ohm woofer connected, your amps out put would be approximately 1,000W x 1 @ 2 ohms. Therefore your RMS power would be 1000W not 500W. If you have any questions or are unsure about proper RMS power please see an AI judge for assistance.

o The number of amplifiers aloud in the Novice classes is 2. A strapped amp, connected in a master/slave configuration is counted as 2 amps.

o The maximum voltage in the Novice classes is 14.9V. The voltage measurement is taken at the amplifier when the vehicle is running. Example, If a judge measured 14.91 V, this would be to high and the competitor would be moved to the next class that allows a higher voltage.

o Batteries are limited by total volume instead of total quantity. Example, In Novice 1, the competitor is limited to a total of 1,400 inch3 of batteries. The competitor could have five really small batteries or one large battery as long as the total volume wasn’t more than 1,400 inch3. For help calculating your vehicles battery volume see Equation 1.1 under the Reference Material section.

o No alternator modification allowed in this class. Only factory OEM alternators allowed.

o No modifications to your vehicle in the Novice class. That is no modifications designed to help improve your SPL score. All cosmetic or show modifications allowed.

• Competitor 1 and 2:

The Competitor 1 and 2 classes were created for more experienced SPL competitors. No sponsored competitor’s in this class please.

o The Competitor classes are separated by subwoofer cone area.

Example, if you have a 2000W x 1 @ 4 ohm amp, and you have a 2 ohm woofer connected, your amps out put would be approximately 4,000W x 1 @ 2 ohms. Therefore your RMS power would be 4000W not 200W. If you have any questions or are unsure about proper RMS power please see an AI judge for assistance.

o The number of amplifiers aloud in the Competitor classes is 4. A strapped amp, connected in a master/slave configuration is counted as 2 amps.

o The maximum voltage in the Novice classes is 16.0V. The voltage measurement is taken at the amplifier when the vehicle is running. Example, If a judge measured 16.01V, this would be to high and the competitor would be moved to the next class that allows a higher voltage.

o Batteries are limited by total volume instead of total quantity. Example, In Competitor 1, the competitor is limited to a total of 3,200 inch3 of batteries. The competitor could have 10 small batteries or one huge battery as long as the total volume wasn’t more than 3,200inch3. For help calculating your vehicles battery volume see Equation 1.1 under the Reference Material section.

o Alternator modifications are allowed in this class. A maximum of 2 after market alternators allowed; no restrictions on size.

o Modifications behind the B- pillar are allowed in the Competitor class. No modifications designed to help improve your SPL score in front of the B-pillar. All cosmetic or show modifications allowed.

• Pro Competitor:

The Pro Competitor class was created for the seasoned SPL competitor or the sponsored competitor. You can also qualify for Pro Competitor if your audio system’s components fit the criteria listed in Table 1.1 – Rules and Classification Quick Reference Chart.

o There is not limit what so ever on subwoofer cone area in the Pro Competitor class. You are allowed as many subwoofers as you can fit below the window line.

o There are basically no additional equipment restrictions in this class; all general rules apply.

They have actually changed the show on the 19th into a TNESPL 1X event, it was posted on the TNE website this morning.

What he said. Would have been even more of a cluster**** if ppl had actually turned up for it!

Keith and I ended up getting blocked in in the parking lot and had to wait for the whole show to be done.

I was glad I had my Termlab, I had their judge come over to my Blazer and we did my runs and Mike Todd's run on my meter since we couldn't get close to theirs. I think they said there were 5 people that showed up for SPL. And I thought 9 people at my show in Chicopee was bad.

It's all good, we did a couple quick runs, nothing exciting. I did my runs and then I packed up and left. I just came by to get my points for Finals. I'll be at the show next Saturday night in Epping NH for the whole show, hopefully I'll have my new set up done for that show.
