Got another build for a customer on the forums. Box is for a DD 1515 with black carpet and red port/inside. Also had a plexi window with a red frame around. Pretty unique. Should be fun! I'll update it as it goes. I still have the put the 45 on the inner port wall for those who are wondering.

WOW!!! The red looks great. I am currently building a 6th order with 4 DD1508's thats got plexi on the back. I was thinking black inside with red LED's or Red with white LED's. I think you helped me decide cause the Red looks good.

might've been a smarter idea to paint the inside before putting the top on....

I did, if you looked at the first page pictures.
I really want to see how this turns out.

04-14-2010, 04:25 PM
so you're leaving the inside primered?
bassman3
04-14-2010, 05:11 PM
so you're leaving the inside primered?
Nope. The inside will be painted red like in the diagram. I have to sand the primer first, then paint it.

^^ that's what i was sayin...it would've been easier to sand the primer, and paint the inside before the top was done....but i'm sure it will turn out good either way

It depends. When the inside of the box is all final and painted red, I do not want MDF dust all on the inside and have to vaccum in out and wipe of the excess glue coming from the inside edges and such. I figured this way would be alot easier.

yeah...it is pretty hard gettin the glue off that paint

Got some more work done. Got the window all cut out and primed, and got the plexi completely done. The red paint I got turned out to be a little more pinky color that I wanted, so I am going to get a different shade tomorrow.

I quoted the customer $240 shipped but realizing how much work goes into it, I would charge more most likely.

Here are some final pics. I'v been slacking as far as taking pictures goes and the only ones I have at the moment are some crappy ones I took at night on my phone. Box looks real nice though and came out beautifully. :)

That's what was unique about the design, and the plexi itself is not protruding, the plexi is flush with the window. The customer wanted a design like this and the customer is always right :) And yea, the pics were taken in poor lighting in my house, so it does look pinkish. But its not. I will have some better pictures with the enclosure outside this weekend.

I mean from the box.. I like it flushed with the box.. looks cleaner IMO.. but I didn't pay for it so mine doesn't count/matter

Yea, i agree. I do alot of plexi enclosures since I have a very good plexiglass source and I almost always do it flush.
