View Full Version : The Impala-Warden Build Thread

03-28-2010, 07:31 PM
Well the time has come to start the thread. I've been gathering things for this build off and on for a couple months and finally have everything. My buddy from work was supposed to help me get the 2 sheets of mdf from home depot Saturday but that fell through. So the building of the box will have to wait till next weekend unless I can get someone to go with me to home depot after work, we'll see. But yesterday and today I built the amp rack and the little box for the battery. The box and amp rack will be painted black stone craft.

Here's a rundown of whats going in it:

Alpine 9886
Sundown 125.2
(4) Selenium 6"
(2) Sundown saz1500d
(2) Positive Runs, Stinger HPM 1/0
(2) Negative Runs, Stinger EXPRT HPM 1/0
DC Power 270XP
XS Power S3400 Under the hood
XS Power D3100 In the back
21" IA Warden D.7 coils

Box is going to be 8 cuft with (2) 6" PSP Ports Tuned to 31 hz

I hate split MDF. It's horrible.

It's about as bad as aids...that's why I predrill before screwing. :fyi:

I have split it even with the predrill, but then you just know to up the bit.

Subscribed, I have an 01 Impala. You plan on building the box in the trunk, or think you can fit it in there? Also, where are the amps/batteries going?

And just as preventable. :fyi:

He speaks the truth. Nice batt box and ramp.

03-29-2010, 07:16 AM
what happen to the wall?

03-29-2010, 08:18 AM
Yes I predrilled bishes. It's just that I used 1/2" mdf for the base and amp rack. I spent 70$ on a dewalt drill bit set, why would I not use them :fyi:

Lol, it was only moving about an inch. I can't wait to get this box built

Awesome equipment, good luck with your build.

Thanks bro

Asked on the first page, but didn't see an answer. Are you building the box in the trunk? 8cubes seems a lot for the trunk, as I drive an 01. Was just wondering, because I wanted to go with around 6cubes, but wasn't sure about it fitting without being built in the trunk.... BTW, nice equipment.

The amps and battery are already installed. All of it will be going behind my front seats.

Got some work done

**** router took a **** on me :rage:

I have Freud bits so I know that isn't the problem. So, I am going to have to dig the jig saw out of the attic to finish the other port and sub cutout. The round over will have to wait till I either get this one fixed or get a new one. Bought it refurbished off ebay so I'm pretty sure they wont fix it, oh well lesson learned. This WILL be playing tomorrow though. All that is left is finish the cut outs, screw and glue the middle brace in then slap the front on.

Piece of ****!

Was going to jump in but the water is still about 50 degrees.

I like your idea to flush mount the aeroports. going to try this on my next build

04-04-2010, 10:22 PM
Well I finally got it up and playing, box bearly fit in my back door opening. I know this thing has to break in so I'm going to give it a few days. Box is 7.6 cubes after displacement with the pair of 6" aero's. That would be like 9 sqin of port for every cube. I know the rule is 12-16 but I have also read that since aero's are more efficient not as much port is needed. I think I need more power, hopefully the suspension will loosen up soon :veryhapp:
