Didn't get anything done on my box today, the resin wasn't drying in the house. :( Then we put it outside at the end of the night and it dried in literally 10 minutes, even though it was 30-40 degrees. I don't understand.

What's purpose of the resin? Looks like a waste, IMO.

Believe it or not, MDF is porous. I've seen competition boxes gain .5-.6 just by resining them, not all boxes but some.

Resin on the inside can some time lead to gains, and he is resining the outside because the dakota is getting a blow through so its some extra protection since MDF + water = nasty.

woops, i guess i missed the blow through part, so resin on the outside makes sense. I would think bracing the inside w/ some mdf would be more effective and cost less.

I got it in and playing two nights ago, the top wasn't secured well enough and was slapping up and down making a horrible obnoxious noise. So I screwed that down, and then the front of the bed wall was flexing so hard it was slapping the box and making another noise that was loud as ****.

Oh, and then I blew all four at once today. I didn't know that smell was coil burning, smelled completely different than my AQ. Looked down at my amp and it was in protect, and then saw the smoke and my car smelled like I smoked an entire pack of cigarettes in two minutes. :crap:

Live and learn I guess, hopefully I can get them covered under the two year warranty I have...had the gain on the amp way down too. Thought these shits were supposed to be underrated. :verymad:

lol wow man. you sure all of them are gone? Thats very unlikely unless you had an issue with the amp.

Yep, one is scratchy and they others are completely frozen or some ****. Amp protected when they blew but works fine now that they aren't hooked up. My guess behind that is because the coil is so ****ed on the subs that it's dropping them into a ridiculous impedance.

I bet only one would have blown, but the amp protecting had something to do with killing the others.

Even used a 9v battery on the subs, no movement whatsoever.

What choice of 12" do you have in mind?

EDIT: Also very interested in how you went about doing your blowthrough. Still got thoughts of doing mine. :)

Might sell the amp and move down in power for the time being, plus I need money for all new subs. :( Either going back with the RE's or might go to some of the new T3 Audio stuff, depending on how well it's priced. I'll post up end pics in a sec.

Not really, I had them on a 1200W amp and they were a combined 700W. 500W difference. I thought I had the gains down enough, but I was wrong. They sounded orgasmic though, went down to the mid 20's without breaking a sweat, and they took the abuse for a good deal of time before they blew.
