Hey there, my gf has '99 civic hatch, we got her the car 1yr ago, and i finally got off my behind to fix her audio. Headunit did not have any fm reception and did not play any cd's :) and the speakers sound just horrible.

I got her Pioneer DEH-2200UB headunit yesterday, it was cheap, has usb interface and she doesn't need more, very happy from it as it's simple and does the job right.

Now I need to replace stock speakers front and back, they will only play off the headunit, don't want/need to get an amp, she's not that picky with sound. I need some cheap replacements that will sound good, have some bass if it's possible, maybe $100-$150 for both pairs (we'r on buget, saving for a home).

What size speakers do you need?

I believe 6.5 fronts and 6x9 backs

you shopping at brick and mortar or online?

every speaker sounds different. you get her to to take a listen to some, and buy what she likes.

Then why upgrade them?

Then why upgrade them?

Cause front left spkr did not work at all and rear left was making weird sounds.
And I'm done with her car, she's got old Alpine sps's installed now and they sound really good :)
