So-
It was almost exactly seven days from the moment I laid the first glue joint on the first woofer to the point of it playing (two of four amps and unsealed) but I think we did a hell of a job in that amount of time. :)

Here is the first vid we did just after tossing it together

As it sits- (2) 4ch and (2) DC3000.1s

the other (2) DC3000.1s are sitting in my room- hopefully going in this weekened.

Jeep is already equipped with three Iraggi 300A Alts for powerplant.

Ive been following the build on SMD, that is some serious flex for it not to be sealed off and on its current power.....going to be insane when its done.

1" birch= yummy :D

Nice work fellas.

Appreciate the responses guys- its a work in progress and there will be many hours put into sealing it off and making it "finished"

What is the goal of this build?

dvldogyut
01-06-2010, 11:29 PM
did you rebuild all of the subs? or order them in peices?

Noobtastic14
01-06-2010, 11:34 PM
I built all of them- four were recones and fully built the other 8.

The goal of this build is to play extremely low, as "safe" and "reliable" as possible while also putting up a good score for when he goes to shows every other month or so. To achieve this we went as high as possible with motor and cone, while keeping watt per woofer low and in a sealed environment.

We'll see how it does in the future :)

So would this be considered a sealed tunnel then? This box design has always intruged me.

did you buy the motors from dc? or off of here?

Holy God that's awesome!!!!!! And where the hell did you get that wood!?

Noobtastic14
01-06-2010, 11:41 PM
It was designed as a sealed tunnel yes- but at some point it has to be considered a bandpass because of the size of the cabin influencing the drivers and response. Unfortunately i wont even begin to say I can calculate this so instead we will be playing with some variables to influence the response once it is completed.

I've spent plenty of time at DC HQ and am lucky enough to have positive business relations with Mr. Rusty (Bossman) and we drove out and used his facility to do all our building. I'm a bit slow at the building process so it took me from about 7pm to 3am to finish all 8 woofers and four recones.

I know he will peek in here eventually- THANKS BOSS FOR EVERYTHING

Without his support and faith in our work non of this could have come together.

No numbers yet. My ear-o-meter would like to think it can touch a 50 @26hz but seems to fall off VERY sharply above 45hz or so. All the suspension was purchased local, I think it was 4wheelparts

Few more pic updates just kinda random daylight shots. It STILL isn't sealed off... :( and still only two bats and two amps but the woofers are a bit broken in and it sounds great :D
