i would say 6.5's are better, but that's not to say that every 6.5 is better than every 6x9.

from my experience. 6.5=better Sq but 6x9's=more cone area so a little better mid bass and will get louder than the equivalent speaker in a 6.5

are you trying to get bass from them?

are you trying to get bass from them?

no need for the bass response as much seeing as my W7s can provide that

was there something else you would suggest since i dont need the bass as much?

if it's in the rear deck, i'd just put what fits stock. i personally eliminate the rear altogether, and just do a nice set of comps up front, but some like the rears.

IDK if its just me or what because the reason im switching these out is becuase my amp is getting fixed and I can really HEAR the music without the subs now and its just distortion in the midbass which I guess wont make a difference when I get my amp back..

But I really dont want to have to waste all this money if its just going to sound the same once I get the subs hooked up again

easiest route to SQ, is a sub and a good component set.

I agree with kcdc30. Get rid of the rear deck altogether. Less sound replication = better sq. Components up front and subs in the back.

Hopefully your not talking rear fill. Only '80's and 90's hair metal sounds right with rear fill; mullet optional.

I may catch flack for saying this,
but i personaly like the older kicker ds6930
and have been quite pleased by them in my vette.
I liked em so much I actually cut the doors to fit a second pair in.
so I have them as rear fill - and in the doors
but I also have a REsx18 in the hatch as well so im pretty shure I cant tell what good quality sounds are. lol
I like em anyays

If you talking image dynamic 6x9's then the 6x9s are better than the 6.5's. The only reason 6x9's have lower sq is because few companies make higher end version of the speakers in that size. Beyond that though the 6x9 has more surface area so a higher effeciency and lower extension. In the case of the ID drivers, it's the same speaker with a bigger cone, think of it as stepping up to a funny shaped 8, cuz that's basically what it is. Anway I ru xs69's in my kick and they sound very good.

the difference is based on the shape of your ears.. I have oval shaped ears so 6x9s sound much better as they create an oval wave.. if you have round ears better go with a 6.5.. if you have goofy square ears better get some l5s or l7s
