Kicker Comp C12

Hey guys, I just got a Kicker Comp C12 sub for Christmas!! My dad surprised me with it because i did not think i was going to get a Kicker! Thought i was going to get a Boss or some other **** that wasn't as good as the kicker.

But my question is what is the proper way to break in the sub? I have a 800w Legacy amp so i know i will need to turn it wayy down. But i am wondering what is the correct way to do everything so i can keep the sub in the best condition.
